About the role

We are seeking a Brand Marketing Lead to own our brand marketing efforts for Claude, Anthropic's flagship AI. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing innovative marketing strategies that build awareness, preference, and cultural relevance for Claude. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, research, communications, and sales to create compelling narratives that effectively communicate Claude's unique capabilities and Anthropic's commitment to building safe, reliable AI systems.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who excels at both the art and science of marketing - as comfortable analyzing data to derive insights as they are shaping a brand's voice and creative direction. You will help define how Claude shows up in the world, inspiring trust and excitement among our users and establishing Anthropic's position in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive brand marketing strategies that build awareness and preference for Claude across target audiences
  • Own the Claude brand positioning, messaging, and visual identity, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate Claude's capabilities and Anthropic's safety mission into compelling marketing narratives
  • Develop innovative, culturally-relevant campaigns that differentiate Claude in the AI assistant market
  • Partner with creative agencies and internal teams to produce high-quality marketing that wins Claude a bigger place in the cultural conversation
  • Define success metrics for brand initiatives and build measurement frameworks to track performance
  • Analyze campaign results and market trends to iterate and optimize marketing approaches
  • Manage and mentor a team of brand marketing professionals
  • Act as a brand ambassador and evangelist for Claude both internally and externally
  • Partner closely with product teams to ensure marketing strategies align with product roadmaps and capabilities
  • Identify opportunities to extend Claude's brand presence through strategic partnerships and collaborations

You may be a good fit if you have:

  • 15+ years of experience in brand marketing roles, with a significant portion in the technology sector
  • Proven track record of building innovative, creative, and culturally defining marketing campaigns
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into focused strategies that cut through noise
  • Excellence in both the art and science of marketing - equally comfortable discussing analytics and defining brand tone
  • Demonstrated ability to uncover insights that shift perceptions and change conversations
  • Proven self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can drive initiatives forward without constant direction
  • Track record of making things happen in complex environments and overcoming obstacles to deliver results
  • Sophisticated creative judgment and experience guiding creative teams to deliver exceptional work
  • Proven ability to measure marketing effectiveness and iterate to grow impact
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels, from executives to new team members
  • Talent for simplifying complex concepts while preserving necessary nuance
  • Experience building and scaling brands in competitive, rapidly evolving markets
  • A passionate interest in AI and its potential to positively impact society

Strong candidates may also:

  • Have experience marketing AI or other advanced technology products
  • Demonstrate understanding of the AI safety landscape and the importance of responsible AI development
  • Show a track record of successful collaboration with product and research teams
  • Have experience developing global marketing strategies
  • Possess expertise in digital marketing and emerging platforms
  • Have previously built marketing teams from the ground up

The expected salary range for this position is:

Annual Salary:

$300,000 - $355,000 USD

Logistics

Education requirements: We require at least a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

Location-based hybrid policy:
Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
