Operations Sourcing Manager, Data Center
About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
You’ll run the broad sourcing operations that keep Anthropic’s global data center footprint moving, working across the full range of categories that make up our infrastructure: compute, networking, racks, mechanical, cabling, and the supplier ecosystem that delivers them. You’ll be the operations owner who makes sure the right hardware lands at the right site at the right time, on terms that hold up across programs.
You’ll work day-to-day with Anthropic engineering, our data center operator partners, OEMs, ODMs, integrators, and service providers. You’ll be the connective tissue across categories, negotiating commercial terms, managing supplier performance, and optimizing for lead time, cost, and on-time delivery against an aggressive deployment roadmap.
In any given week you might be supporting NPI BOM’s, expediting constrained components, chasing down a lead-time slip across suppliers, running a competitive process for a new platform, developing supplier scorecards, negotiating supply agreements, or partnering with engineering to keep an in-flight program on track. You’ll partner closely with Claude throughout, including supplier benchmarking, contract analysis, scenario modeling, and drafting clean negotiation records.
Responsibilities
- Run end-to-end sourcing operations across data center hardware categories (compute, networking, racks, mechanical, cabling), from supplier engagement and competitive process through contracts and ongoing supplier performance management.
- Own the operational rhythm with suppliers: supplier scorecards, capturing capacity and quarterly business reviews.
- Negotiate commercial terms across categories and keep them aligned with our deployment plans, with a bias toward execution and on-time delivery.
- Triage supplier issues across programs, drive trade-off decisions with engineering, finance, and deploy operations, and keep stakeholders aligned through ambiguity.
- Build Claude-powered workflows that the sourcing team and partners adopt for benchmarking, request for quotes, contract analysis, and reporting.
- Produce the deal memos, supplier business reviews, and operational readouts that engineering and ops leadership rely on to keep programs on track.
You may be a good fit if you:
- Have 7+ years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain operations, with a track record across multiple hardware categories rather than depth in just one.
- Are operationally rigorous: comfortable owning supplier performance, lead-time discipline, and fulfillment escalations as a regular part of the job.
- Can move from a compute supply negotiation to a networking RFx to a mechanical components contract without losing rigor.
- Operate effectively under ambiguity and bring structure to undefined problems.
- Influence cross-functional partners and align them around shared standards, even without direct authority.
- Communicate clearly in writing and produce artifacts senior stakeholders can act on without follow-up.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
It’s a bonus if you have:
- 10+ years in sourcing, procurement, supply chain operations, or hardware program management.
- 5+ years of experience sourcing data center hardware at scale.
- Hands-on experience with operational sourcing instruments (PO management, scorecards, S&OP, lead-time modeling, expedites).
- Familiarity with data center hardware infrastructure (compute, networking, racks, cabling, CDUs, and other mechanical components).
- Experience working with OEMs, ODMs, integrators, and service providers across multiple hardware categories.
- Experience supporting large-scale hardware deployments where on-time delivery and supplier performance drove program outcomes.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.
