Recruiter, GTM

San Francisco, CA | New York City, NY

About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

Anthropic is looking for a talented and driven Recruiter to partner with our Go-To-Market teams. In this role, you'll help build the teams that bring safe, frontier AI to the organizations that depend on it, spanning Sales, Partnerships, Public Sector, and Beneficial Deployments.

GTM is one of the fastest-growing parts of Anthropic, and the market for this talent is competitive and fast-moving. The people we hire need an unusual combination of commercial ability and genuine domain depth. You'll own full-cycle recruiting for a portfolio of GTM roles, act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to hiring managers and leaders, and help shape how we assess commercial talent as we scale. You'll develop a real understanding of each hiring manager's goals, the markets they serve, and the profiles that succeed against them. Many of the roles you support will be new or evolving, and you'll have significant influence over interview loops, calibration practices, sourcing strategy, and how we talk about this work to candidates who have options. You'll also be one of the people candidates remember. For many, you'll be their first real window into what it's like to work here.

This is an individual contributor role with meaningful autonomy. We expect you to run your searches independently, make judgment calls without waiting for direction, and be the person your hiring managers turn to first on anything talent-related. It's a strong fit for someone who is energized by a high bar, comfortable operating in ambiguity, and genuinely interested in the mission our GTM teams are selling.

Key responsibilities

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for GTM roles, from intake through offer and close, with a strong emphasis on candidate experience and stakeholder partnership
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with hiring managers and leaders, serving as their primary partner on hiring and translating their goals into calibrated role requirements, must-have skills, and assessment criteria
  • Become an expert in the markets our GTM teams serve, understanding where the talent sits, what motivates it, and what distinguishes a strong candidate from a plausible one
  • Build and execute sourcing strategies for competitive, specialized commercial talent, including targeted outreach campaigns, market mapping, and cultivating talent pools that don't yet exist as pipelines
  • Advise GTM leaders on talent market conditions, compensation dynamics, pipeline health, and realistic timelines, including when a search needs to be reframed
  • Design and refine interview loops, intake practices, and assessment approaches for roles that are new or evolving, partnering with hiring managers to define what "good" looks like before the first candidate enters the process
  • Maintain an inclusive and consistent process, using structured interviews and calibrated criteria that reduce the influence of bias on hiring decisions
  • Partner with Recruiting Operations to use pipeline data and metrics to diagnose bottlenecks and inform resourcing decisions, process improvements, and candidate experience
  • Serve as a thought partner to hiring managers on organizational design questions, including what a team actually needs, how roles should be scoped, and where a hire will and won't solve the problem
  • Represent Anthropic's mission, culture, and approach to AI safety authentically to commercial candidates

You May Be a Good Fit If You

  • Have 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including sourcing, assessing, and closing candidates, ideally with time in a high-growth technology company
  • Have recruited for commercial or Go-To-Market functions such as Sales, Customer Success, Solutions Architecture, Partnerships, or Marketing
  • Have a demonstrated ability to partner with and influence hiring managers and senior stakeholders, including pushing back when a search is mis-scoped
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, including a knack for writing outreach that specialized candidates actually respond to
  • Are able to use pipeline data to diagnose problems and inform decisions
  • Are proficient with an applicant tracking system and sourcing tools such as LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Can manage competing priorities and operate with autonomy in a fast-changing environment
  • Have a passion for AI's potential to positively impact the world, along with a realistic assessment of its risks and limitations
  • Bring an enthusiastic "roll up your sleeves" mentality and are a true team player

Strong Candidates May Also

  • Have recruited in a market where the talent you need is scarce, expensive, and heavily courted, and have found creative ways to win
  • Have experience with Greenhouse and with structured interviewing practices
  • Be open to non-traditional talent strategies, and enjoy working with hiring managers who are willing to experiment
  • Have supported technical GTM roles such as Solutions Architects or Forward Deployed Engineers, and can hold a credible conversation about technical scope
  • Have experience building or scaling a recruiting function, process, or interview loop from an early stage
  • Have a track record of building high-performing teams in a rapidly scaling environment

The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

Annual Salary:

$240,000 - $295,000 USD

Logistics

Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience

Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren't able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

For roles performing work in California: We will consider for employment all qualified applicants, including those with arrest or conviction records or criminal histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local laws, including the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, the City of Los Angeles’ Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers, and the California Fair Chance Act.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed.  Research shows that people who identify as being from underrepresented groups are more prone to experiencing imposter syndrome and doubting the strength of their candidacy, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely and to submit an application if you're interested in this work. We think AI systems like the ones we're building have enormous social and ethical implications. We think this makes representation even more important, and we strive to include a range of diverse perspectives on our team.

Your safety matters to us. To protect yourself from potential scams, remember that Anthropic recruiters only contact you from @anthropic.com email addresses. In some cases, we may partner with vetted recruiting agencies who will identify themselves as working on behalf of Anthropic. Be cautious of emails from other domains. Legitimate Anthropic recruiters will never ask for money, fees, or banking information before your first day. If you're ever unsure about a communication, don't click any links—visit anthropic.com/careers directly for confirmed position openings.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us!

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and a lovely office space in which to collaborate with colleagues. Agreement to Arbitrate

I understand and agree that both Anthropic and I waive our respective rights to trial by jury in connection with any claims covered by this agreement to arbitrate. Instead, any disputes arising out of or related to my application for employment with Anthropic shall be settled by final and binding arbitration pursuant to the Federal Arbitration Act. I understand and agree that Anthropic’s employees/agents, Anthropic’s clients, and their employees/agents are third-party beneficiaries to this agreement.

The arbitration shall be conducted in accordance with the Employment Arbitration Rules & Procedures of Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc. (“JAMS Rules”), available via the internet at https://www.jamsadr.com/rules-employment-arbitration or by searching for “JAMS Employment Arbitration Rules” in an online search service such as www.google.com. To the extent the JAMS Rules are inconsistent with the terms of this Agreement, this Agreement shall govern to the extent permitted by law. The parties will select one neutral arbitrator, who will have the authority to award all relief in law or equity that is requested by the parties and supported by credible, relevant, and admissible evidence. The arbitrator shall allow adequate discovery and issue a written, signed, and reasoned award. Judgement may be entered on the arbitrator’s award in any court having jurisdiction, and the award shall be subject to correction, confirmation, or vacation as provided by the applicable law concerning judicial review of arbitration awards. Anthropic will bear the costs that are particular to the arbitration, such as the arbitrator fees. The arbitrator will apply the substantive law of the state in which I sought employment with Anthropic. The arbitrator will determine the arbitration venue, based on fairness and convenience to the parties and witnesses, unless otherwise mutually agreed upon by the parties. The Party initiating a claim under this Agreement must make a written demand for arbitration to the other Party. The demand for arbitration shall identify the claims asserted, the facts upon which such claims are based, and any relief or remedy sought. Written demand for arbitration to Anthropic must be sent to Anthropic PBC at arbdemands@anthropic.com. Anthropic’s demand for arbitration shall be sent to the most recent mailing address and/or email address that Anthropic has on file for you.

This agreement to arbitrate does not apply to claims for workers’ compensation, unemployment compensation benefits, claims or charges before any administrative agency having jurisdiction over such claims, or any other claim that is not subject to arbitration under federal law. If any claims are deemed non-arbitrable, then those claims will be stayed until resolution of any arbitrable claims.

I understand and agree that, except where prohibited by federal law, all claims subject to this agreement to arbitrate must be pursued on an individual basis, and that both I and Anthropic waive any right to bring or be a party to any class or collective action. I agree that any issues pertaining to the enforceability, application or validity of this agreement to arbitrate shall be decided only by a court of competent jurisdiction and not by an arbitrator. This agreement to arbitrate applies only in the United States.
