We are seeking AI Engineer's (f/m/d) to build and evolve Apaleo’s Staff-Facing Agent, an intelligent operations copilot embedded in the platform. You will work at the forefront of applied AI, turning cutting-edge research into reliable, production-ready systems used daily by hotel teams.

You will design agent architectures and apply advances in reasoning, reinforcement learning, and LLM tooling to enable reliable execution of complex, multi-step tasks through natural language. This role requires adaptability and strong technical depth: quickly evaluating new developments, turning them into production-ready systems, and scaling them without compromising stability. We’re hiring across seniority levels. What matters most is curiosity, speed, and the ability to turn ideas into working solutions.

What You’ll Be Up To

Drive AI Experimentation & Innovation

  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in AI (LLMs, agents, prompting, architectures)
  • Identify promising techniques and approaches worth testing
  • Rapidly build proof-of-concepts to validate ideas
  • Translate research into practical, production-ready improvements

Improve Agent Performance

  • Continuously enhance the agent’s reasoning and task-solving abilities
  • Optimize prompting strategies and workflows
  • Experiment with tool usage, planning, and orchestration
  • Iterate quickly based on real-world performance

Build Evaluation & Testing Systems

  • Design and maintain evaluation frameworks and test datasets
  • Define meaningful metrics for agent performance
  • Run experiments and compare outcomes rigorously
  • Ensure improvements are measurable and repeatable

Work Hands-On in the Agent Codebase

  • Directly modify and experiment with:
    • Prompts
    • Model configurations
    • Agent workflows
    • Tool integrations
  • Collaborate closely with backend engineers to ensure reliable deployment and observability

Collaborate on Real-World Use Cases

  • Build and refine AI scenarios based on real customer needs
  • Work with product, operations, and domain experts
  • Incorporate domain knowledge into agent behavior

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Core Requirements

  • Solid foundation in software engineering (Python preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompting, or AI agents
  • Ability to run experiments and iterate quickly
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Comfortable working directly in production codebases

    • RAG systems and evaluation
    • Agent frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LangGraph)
    • AWS Bedrock or similar platforms
  • Exposure to:
    • Reinforcement learning
    • LLM fine-tuning
    • Representation learning
  • Background in math, physics, or other analytical fields
