Senior Software Engineer - Applications

Remote

We are defining the future of the Rentals Industry

We’re a profitable, growth-stage company building industry-leading martech and data products for the PropTech space. Our focus is on our category-leading AI and data SaaS products with triple-digit growth rates.

We’re a fully remote team of 100+ spread across the U.S. from coast to coast. We operate on a strict no a**holes policy and are proud to have built a community of highly performant people that take our work seriously, but not ourselves. And, we're looking for exceptional people to help further accelerate our growth.

While we’ve raised $30MM+ to date from some of the world’s best investors, we’re profitable with a strong balance sheet and an indefinite runway. We pride ourselves on achieving rapid growth without having to incinerate capital.

About Our Products

ApartmentIQ is the all-in-one data platform powering smarter decisions across multifamily—covering 40M units with daily property and market intelligence used for surveys, research, and revenue management. We're trusted by 65% of the NMHC Top 50. Our sister company, MavenAI, delivers AI-powered marketing automation built by industry experts and integrated directly with property management systems, serving over 2M units.

Your New Team

The ApartmentIQ team is revolutionizing how property managers optimize their operations. We provide a powerful platform that centralizes critical property data, offering actionable insights and intuitive tools to enhance efficiency and decision-making. Our product empowers users to streamline everything from leasing and maintenance to resident communication and financial reporting.

We leverage a modern tech stack, with a React/Tailwind frontend delivering a seamless user experience, backed by a robust Ruby on Rails backend. We believe in fostering an inclusive environment built on mutual trust, continuous learning, and a commitment to simplicity, where every engineer can contribute and grow.

The Role

We're hiring experienced full-stack engineers to build AI-native products across our ApartmentIQ and MavenAI pods. These are high-ownership roles: you'll take features from data layer to API to interface, working closely with an experienced lead or AI engineer rather than inheriting a fully-specced ticket. If you like owning ambiguous problems end-to-end—and you're excited about building product on top of LLMs and agents, not only using them to code faster—this is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Own features end-to-end—data model, Rails API, and front end—in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Build product surfaces on top of LLMs and agents: ingestion, structured data, and UIs for reviewing and verifying AI-generated output.
  • Partner with a team lead or AI Engineer to take greenfield problems from ambiguous idea to shipped feature.
  • Engage with product leadership on what to prioritize and how to scope it.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer.
  • Strong Ruby on Rails experience, including designing and building APIs.
  • Proficiency with JavaScript / ES6 and a modern front-end framework (React preferred).
  • Comfort working across the full stack, including relational databases (MySQL).
  • Experience building products utilizing agentic workflows: prompting, handling non-deterministic output, and designing for human-in-the-loop review.
  • Solid understanding of fundamental web technologies such as HTTP, REST, and JSON.
  • Ability to break down complex, ambiguous problems into digestible, shippable chunks.
  • Thrive in fast-paced startup environments and adapt quickly to changing priorities.

Bonus Skills & Experience

  • Data pipeline / ingestion and processing work—pulling in raw apartment rental data from XML files or APIs and transforming it into compelling content that helps renters choose their next home.
  • Experience with agentic frameworks, RAG, or LLM tool-use.
  • React ecosystem depth (Redux and similar) and strong product/UX taste.
  • Experience working with designers and AI engineers to build beautiful, intuitive front-end experiences.
  • Taste in modern trends of front-end development and a desire to build simple, user-focused UX.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
