Delivery Driver/Shop Helper

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Delivery Driver/ Shop help (DD) works in support of the Warehouse/Shop Lead and ultimately the Fabrication Manager, to assist with construction projects and office/shop maintenance. This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining the entire shop and yard areas in a clean and organized manner, pulling and delivering parts for the construction department, working on jobsites as directed and maintaining/repairing all company vehicles, tools, parts and equipment. This position is also expected to give your best effort to help this department run smoothly, efficiently, and profitable.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential functions/responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

Delivery and Receiving

  • Deliver/pick up/ put away parts and other items as needed
  • Supply construction job sites as needed with parts materials etc.
  • Unload/load trucks operating a forklift
  • Load and haul scrap steel to scrap yard
  • Jobsite Clean Up

Building and Equipment

  • Pick up yard daily and keep organized.
  • Clean break room on a weekly basis
  • Take out trash daily
  • Put out dumpster every Thursday
  • Sweep gutter on a monthly basis
  • Keep pallets neat and orderly – dispose of old or unsafe pallets
  • Sweep shop daily
  • Clean up all spills promptly
  • Lock and secure all doors and gate at night
  • Ensure that trucks are fueled and clean inside when you put them away at night
  • Clean exterior of trucks on a monthly basis
  • Keep all shop walkways, entrances and exits unobstructed and free from tripping hazards
  • Keep the areas around the eye wash station and fire extinguishers clear to ensure easy and unobstructed access in case of an emergency
  • Check yard fence for breaks

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to hold a valid Forklift certification
  • Working in and around construction sites and fabrication shops
  • All APCCO employees who drive company owned vehicles or drive their own vehicle for company purposes:
  • Must read, understand and follow the requirements of the APCCO Motor Vehicle Policy and Vehicle Maintenance Policy
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Provide a clear DMV record that is insurable with our company vehicle insurance carrier, including no accidents, incidents or DUI in the past 5 years (and updated annually)
  • Participate in company-sponsored programs to maintain or improve driver safety
