You get it. As a Scientist 1, you're a serious multi-tasker who lends your technical expertise and business savvy to the success of every project. You work hard to exceed client expectations for quality and cost-effectiveness, and you coordinate project activities to complete every project on time and within budget. At the end of the workday, you go home very satisfied knowing you've delivered solutions to clients that depend on you to resolve problems that range from very simple to very complex.
Your Responsibilities as a Scientist 1:
- Actively participate in a culture of safe work practices.
- Conduct groundwater and surface water sampling
- Perform laboratory coordination, including sample handling, chain of custody documentation, and data review.
- Conduct soil gas sample events.
- Properly care for and use field equipment.
- Conduct Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) regulatory compliance inspections on active construction and industrial sites.
- Conduct field inspections for spill prevention and countermeasure control (SPCC) and stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWMP/SWPPP).
- Collect soil, water, air, and/or building material samples.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret data within various regulatory compliance monitoring programs.
- Input data into template reports.
- Coordination and communication with clients and landowners in preparation for onsite sampling/inspections.
- Effectively communicate, track, and balance project workloads w/ supervisor.
- Actively develop your own professional growth.
What we're looking for:
- A BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Biology, Engineering Technology, or similar.
- 0-3 years of experience with environmental field sampling and data collection.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- The ability to multi-task and manage your own time with remote supervision.
- Ability to lift and carry field equipment and samples weighing up to 40 pounds over uneven terrain.
- Ability to load equipment in trucks and safely move drain covers.
- Demonstrated experience with safety programs and safe work practices.
- PEC SafeLand training, 40-hour HAZWOPER or similar safety related certification a plus.
- Provide scheduled on-call support for weekend assignments (once per month) and after-hours emergencies.
- Willingness to work an adjusted work week which may include weekends.
- Ability to travel to remote project sites.
- Ability to multi-task and proactively manage your time and schedule within a team setting is critical.
- Ability to conduct groundwater, soil gas, and surface water sampling.
- Familiarity with water chemistry, interpreting or compiling laboratory reports a plus.
- Strong organization and scheduling skills.
- Understanding of erosion, sediment, and stormwater control measures, as well as reclamation a plus.
- Light construction, or landscaping experience/hands-on skills a plus.
- Experience with data management and report preparation a plus.
- Experience completing Phase I and II ESAs, SWPPPs or SPCC plans a plus.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle during working hours will be required.
- Ability to pass drug & alcohol screening is required.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite are required.
- Oil and gas industry experience and knowledge of drilling and production equipment a plus.

Annual Expected Pay Range
$41,500 - $52,000 USD
