Apex Companies is a national leader in environmental services, water resources, engineering, health & safety, and ESG consulting. With a strong presence across the Central Region, we deliver innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions to clients across a wide range of industries.
We are seeking a dynamic, growth-focused Environmental Principal to join our team in a senior seller-doer role. This position is designed for an experienced environmental and EHS professional who brings both deep technical expertise and a strong business-development mindset. The ideal candidate has an established network of clients and the ability to identify opportunities, develop relationships, and grow a book of business while serving as a trusted technical advisor.
This is a highly flexible opportunity with respect to location. The position can be based anywhere within Apex’s Central Region, with remote, hybrid, or office-based arrangements available depending on the candidate's location and business needs. The role has a strong emphasis on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) services, while also providing the opportunity to support broader environmental consulting needs. We are looking for someone who understands how to approach a client, uncover their challenges, develop solutions, and build long-term relationships that translate into sustained business growth.
You will have access to Apex’s national platform and broad range of technical services, allowing you to bring additional resources and capabilities to clients as their needs evolve. We are looking someone based in Apex's Central Region.

- Lead sales meetings and client presentations and support the development of proposals, scopes, and fee estimates.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional and national clients, expanding Apex’s presence beyond individual local markets.
- Cross-sell Apex’s complementary environmental, EHS, water, engineering, and other consulting services.
- Provide senior-level technical expertise and serve as a subject matter expert in areas such as EHS, environmental compliance, permitting, site investigation/remediation, due diligence, and related environmental services.
- Provide technical oversight and QA/QC on projects and mentor project teams to promote technical excellence and high performance.
- Support project execution and performance with a focus on quality, innovation, profitability, and client satisfaction.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and client needs to identify opportunities for growth.
- Travel to client locations and industry events as needed for business development, relationship management, and project support.

- 7+ years of demonstrated success in business development, including winning new work and expanding relationships with existing clients.
- An established network of clients and industry contacts, preferably including national or multi-market clients.
