As a Water Resources Engineer, you will work alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals on a variety of water resources and stormwater projects throughout the planning, design, permitting, and construction phases.
- Assist in the planning, design, and delivery of water resources engineering projects, including stormwater management, flood mitigation, water quality improvement, and water control structure projects.
- Support the development of engineering calculations, technical reports, studies, and design documents under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater systems, watersheds, floodplains, and drainage infrastructure.
- Learn and apply stormwater modeling software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and StormWise/ICPR4 to support project evaluations and designs.
- Assist with floodplain mapping, flood assessments, watershed studies, and water resources planning efforts.
- Support the preparation of permit applications and regulatory documentation for local, state, and federal agencies.
- Participate in field investigations, site visits, data collection, and construction observation activities.
- Assist with preparing plans, specifications, exhibits, and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, environmental, planning, and GIS professionals.
- Develop an understanding of regulatory requirements and permitting processes associated with agencies such as FDEP, SFWMD, USACE, and FDOT.
- Contribute to proposal development, technical presentations, and project documentation as needed.
- Build technical expertise and professional skills through mentorship, training, and hands-on project experience.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with graduation estimated for May 2027.
- Recent engineering or related internship experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire preferred.
- Strong interest in water resources, stormwater management, hydrology, hydraulics, and environmental systems.
- Exposure to engineering software such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or similar tools is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to perform occasional field work and site visits.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
