Accounting Manager / Controller

We’re seeking a Controller / Accounting Manager (flexible title based on experience) who will own day-to-day accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and help scale apiphani’s financial systems as we grow. This role will be hands-on - balancing month-end close, reporting, and compliance - with the strategic vision needed to build a scalable finance function.


Responsibilities

Controllership & Accounting Operations

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and consolidations.

  • Manage general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and expense reporting.

  • Ensure accurate client invoicing, revenue recognition, and cost allocations at the project level.

  • Partner with delivery leadership to track project profitability, utilization, and budget-to-actuals.

  • Oversee cash management and support 13-week cash flow forecasting.

  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and strengthen internal controls.

  • Manage and optimize financial systems.

  • Support audit, tax filings, and external reporting requirements.

Financial Planning & Reporting

  • Develop timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Monitor KPIs and provide insights on revenue, margins, and operating expenses.

  • Partner with leadership to build budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning models.

  • Support investor reporting and due diligence activities.

Team & Process Leadership

  • Manage and mentor accounting staff or external resources as the function grows.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and other financial partners.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred).

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including controllership or accounting manager responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and multi-entity consolidations.

  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based finance systems.

  • Track record of building scalable accounting processes in a high-growth services or SaaS environment.

  • Strong Excel and financial analysis skills; familiarity with Power BI or similar tools a plus.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and balance detail with big-picture thinking.

 

Base Salary

$100,000 - $140,000 USD
