Role Summary
The Research and Translational Medicine department is seeking an Associate Director, Biomarker Discovery and Development. In this newly created role will be responsible for biomarker strategy and execution and analysis of biomarker data generated across Apogee clinical studies. You will also head the preclinical and clinical biomarker assay group at Smart Labs located in the Seaport in Boston.
Key Responsibilities
- Work across functions in Translational Research and Clinical to develop and execute biomarker strategies for clinical programs.
- Process and analyze biomarker datasets including genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics data from discovery projects through clinical studies. Perform statistical and computational analysis to identify correlations and insights. Integrate multi-omics data to support biomarker discovery and validation efforts.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the preclinical and clinical biomarker assay group including resourcing and oversight of assay selection, feasibility, troubleshooting, qualification, and clinical sample testing.
- Establish and maintain excellent relations with CROs to execute biomarker strategies, monitor assay development including timely qualification/validation and sample testing in clinical trials to ensure high quality data generation. Lead the implementation of assays using flow cytometry, immunoassays, proteomics, and genomics-based tools for clinical trials.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams on patent and publication readiness, SOP finalization, clinical protocols, lab manuals
Ideal Candidate
- PhD with a minimum of 8 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience.
- Experience in I&I indications of Dermatology and Respiratory.
- Experience managing team of biomarker scientists.
- Proficiency in statistical programing languages such as R and bioinformatics tools.
- Strong understanding of biological and multimodal data types.
- Enjoys fast paced environment, flexible, able to manage multiple and competing priorities under tight timelines.
- Extensive experience in clinical biomarker strategy and execution, deep understanding of drug development stages and role for biomarkers.
- Highly experienced in leading and collaborating effectively as a member of cross-functional teams, excellent communication skills to drive projects and manage timelines and present to a variety of stakeholders and tailor message accordingly.

- Position requires travel for regular team meetings including All Hands meetings and other workshops.
- Candidates must be willing to work onsite at our lab in Boston a minimum of 3 days per week.
The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $185,000-$200,000/year. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
