Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Scientific Communications & Medical Operations Reporting to the Executive Director, Scientific Communications, the successful candidate will support operational and planning aspects of medical congress and publication activities. This role focuses on operational coordination, process management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure scientific communication deliverables, including publications and congress materials/activities are executed compliantly.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Scientific Communications, Medical Affairs, and cross-functional stakeholders to track and ensure timely delivery of congress activities across medical affairs.
- Proactively manage timelines and status trackers for medical congress activities and maintain accurate and up-to-date congress and publication plans.
- Manage and administrate standard systems for review and tracking of publications and medical materials, including routing and trackingreview and running reports.
- Operational execution of congress activities, including booth scheduling, vendor coordination, metrics and asset tracking, badge procurement, and meeting registration.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in medical communications, scientific communications operations, or congress planning within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or a medical communications agency.
- Strong project management skills, including attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently in a regulated environment.
- Knowledge of the Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review process for non-promotional scientific or medical materials.
- Hands-on experience with medical communications review systems.
- Working knowledge of publications review processes and experience supporting a publications management system.
- Familiarity with ISMPP guidelines and best practices for ethical publication development and disclosure.
- Experience with publication process requirements in pharma, including documentation and review and approval processes.
- Strong skills in presentation and spreadsheet software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel) and experience with collaborative content management platforms (e.g., SharePoint) and workflow/project management tools (e.g., Smartsheet).
- Clear, professional communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional partners, external authors, and vendors.
- Position requires up to 10% travel, including mandatory in-person attendance at Apogee All Hands meetings typically held twice per year.
Nice to Have
- Masters Degree or MBA
- Experience with PowerBI, Microsoft Timelines, and/or Adobe Design Suite
- CMPP (Certified Medical Publication Professional) credential
The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $155,000-175,000. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
