Senior Medical Writer – Medical Education & Publications (Ophthalmology)

Location: Hybrid / Remote (UK)

Reports to: Senior Portfolio Lead

About ApotheCom

At ApotheCom, part of Inizio Medical, we believe science has the power to change lives — and great communication brings that science to the world. We're a global medical communications agency that transforms complex data into meaningful insight and influence.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Medical Writer with expertise in ophthalmology to join our growing team. You'll contribute to the development of medical education and scientific publications that help healthcare professionals better understand latest data and improve patient care.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Medical Writer, you'll help improve scientific excellence and strategic insight across a range of ophthalmology projects. You'll develop high-quality, scientifically accurate materials — from peer-reviewed manuscripts and congress content to interactive educational resources and digital learning experiences.

You'll collaborate with clients, other teams, and experts in the field to ensure our communications are not only scientifically robust but also engaging and relevant to real-world clinical practice.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of scientific publications (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slides) and medical education materials (training modules, slide decks, videos, infographics).
  • Partner with clients and KOL's to provide strategic and high-impact scientific communications.
  • Ensure accuracy, balance, and compliance with applicable guidelines (GPP, ICMJE, company SOPs).
  • Provide clear scientific guidance and review for our teams, ensuring consistency across deliverables.
  • Collaborate with client services, editorial, and creative teams to produce compelling outputs.
  • Contribute to project planning, timelines, and new business development when needed.
  • Mentor junior writers, promoting growth and knowledge sharing within the team.

About You

  • Life science degree.
  • Experience in medical communications, with a track record in publications and medical education.
  • In-depth understanding of ophthalmology (e.g., retina, glaucoma, dry eye, or rare eye diseases) and comfort with complex scientific data.
  • Knowledge of current publication practices, GPP/ICMJE guidelines, and compliance standards.
  • Client-facing skills — articulate, and collaborative.

Why Join ApotheCom

At ApotheCom, you'll work with some of the brightest minds in science and communications — all united by a shared purpose: to connect science and humanity.

We offer:

  • Great compensation package and comprehensive benefits package including pension and private healthcare
  • Flexible, hybrid working options
  • Professional development through Inizio Medical's global learning programs
  • A collaborative, inclusive culture where you can grow

Join us — and help shape the future of ophthalmology communications through science, creativity, and connection.

Don't meet every job requirement? That's okay! Our company is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you're excited about this role, but your experience doesn't perfectly fit every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right person for this role or others.
