GALLERY ASSOCIATE - LOS ANGELES

APPARATUS is New York-based design studio that explores the relationship of lighting, furniture and objects in immersive environments, threading the historical and the cultural through a modern lens.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as an initial point of contact for visiting clients, vendors, and colleagues.
  • Set a high standard of on-brand warmth and professionalism in welcoming visitors into the space.
  • Conduct tours of the gallery for clients, sharing product and brand knowledge in an engaging way.
  • Ensure details of guests are recorded to connect them with the appropriate Client Manager, if available connecting clients with Client Managers with in-person introductions.
  • Provide client follow-up with post-tour emails including tear sheets, digital catalog, with appropriate Client Manager in CC.
  • Track gallery foot traffic daily.
  • Provide phone support; assist callers with essential questions about the brand and brand products.
  • Pack, ship and monitor inventory of finish samples.
  • Generate quotes and invoices as directed.
  • Process client payments (credit card, wire and checks).
  • Manage post-production order fulfillment by closing orders, requesting balance payments, and confirming shipping details with clients prior to shipment.
  • Support sales team when out-of-office with basic account and email management.
  • Share responsibility of gallery visual standards, opening and closing duties – lighting levels, object/furniture placement, restrooms, stock levels.

SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and a desire to learn and deliver on-brand APPARATUS communication and presentation standards.
  • Detail-orientated with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills, independent drive and the ability to work under pressure and deliver projects under tight deadlines.
  • Strong aesthetic and presentation skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrate initiative by actively contributing new ideas to Sales Director related to client experience and administrative tasks.
  • A consistently positive attitude displayed both as an individual and within a collaborative team of peers and management.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior sales or administrative experience in client-facing roles; minimum 2 years of experience in interior design, high-end furniture, or luxury retail industry.
  • Proven ability in a high-paced environment that values consistency, efficiency and excellence.
  • Understanding of a business that requires a team to execute the common vision, understands the value of the individual and the team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Knowledge and interest in contemporary design.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full-time gallery hours
  • Longer hours and additional days/weekend availability as needed.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW AND CHECK-INS SCHEDULE

  • Monthly touch bases
  • Annual performance review.

Salary starting at $60,000 (inclusive of salary and commission)
