Business Analyst (2025 Grads)

As a Business Analyst at Appian, you will support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team in the review and processing of Appian customer contracts along with the production of financial and operational reports and key metrics. This role will work closely with FP&A co-workers as well as colleagues in Sales, Customer Success, Legal, and Accounting. This role demands someone who is extremely detail oriented and comfortable reading customer contracts to assess financial information. We are looking for someone with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. This enthusiastic, self-starter should also have a willingness to learn and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Analysis: Gather, clean, and analyze large datasets related to sales and customer metrics.

Contract Analysis: Review customer software license agreements and consulting agreements for key financial information. Utilize that review to classify contract attributes and calculate software license contract values.

Financial Modeling: Build financial models to calculate annual contract values and total contract values as well as ad hoc requests from the leadership team.
Basic Qualifications:

Education: A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Experience: 0-2 years of general accounting, contract analysis, or financial related experience

Skills:
-
Advanced Excel skills, including creating pivot tables and the ability to write formulas for lookups and other functions. Experience with Excel Power Query is especially beneficial.

Attention to detail and strong time management skills, with the ability to multi-task under time pressure while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.

Ability to exercise discretion related to the reporting of Appian’s actual, forecasted financial results and confidential information.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with peers and management.

Nice to Haves:

Knowledge of commercial and/or federal customer contracting and software licensing practices

Knowledge of Google G-Suite of applications, Salesforce, Netsuite, and/or Anaplan

Ability to support the testing and implementation of upgrades and enhancements of internally-developed financial systems used by the FP&A team
