The HR Operations Specialist plays a key role in supporting core HR processes and programs at Appian, with a primary focus on onboarding, employee data management, compliance, and operational support across the employee lifecycle. This role ensures a smooth employee experience while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in HR systems and procedures.
The role will be based in Chennai, India but work with employees across the EMEA and APJ regions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate onboarding activities for new employees across EMEA and APJ regions.

Manage and complete new hire background checks in EMEA and APJ.

Provide support with voluntary and involuntary offboarding processes.

Respond to employee inquiries related to onboarding, offboarding, payroll, and general HR matters.

Prepare and maintain employee documentation, including employment verifications, job change letters, and other HR records.

Contribute to the creation and maintenance of holiday calendars for EMEA countries.

Support HR Operations initiatives, programs, and projects as required.

Provide support for Workday and manage system updates and changes.

Ensure accuracy and integrity of HR data within the system.

Provide support for employee relocations into and out of the EMEA and APJ regions.

Manage expenses for the People Team Department Executives.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

2–5 years of relevant professional experience.

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or an international equivalent certification.

Ability to work on assignments that are semi-routine, applying standard practices and procedures while exercising judgment when deviations are required.

Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision, receiving general guidance for new or unfamiliar tasks.
