Appian is seeking a highly strategic, executive-level Financial Services Industry Leader and dynamic Value Engineering expert for our rapidly growing business in the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.  As the Industry Leader, you will act as the primary strategic expert, driving digital transformation success for clients.  This role also serves as the executive-level technical and Value Engineering advisor for our largest and most strategic clients.  You will play a critical role by defining multi-year transformation roadmaps, leveraging deep expertise in enterprise architecture, regulatory compliance, and financial performance to translate complex institutional challenges into high-value, measurable Appian implementation strategies that accelerate revenue growth.

 

To be successful in this role, you need:

 

  • To act as the primary strategic industry expert for Financial Services in APJ, spending time with clients to evangelize new applications for our work automation software, providing strategic guidance, and coaching our Account Executives and Customer Success teams to ensure client success and continuous software revenue growth.

  • To engage directly with C-level regional business and technical leaders to address their unique business, architectural, legacy, and regulatory challenges.

  • To define and quantify the multi-year transformation roadmap for strategic clients, leveraging expertise in enterprise architecture and financial performance.

  • To help Account Executives design programs to penetrate new target accounts, deliver thought leadership across a variety of formats to generate prospect interest, and secure market awareness.

  • To provide consultative support on how Appian solutions address critical APJ regulatory drivers and design/present Target State Architectures demonstrating how Appian integrates into and simplifies complex technology footprints.

  • To act as the regional Value Engineering expert, supporting the process of quantifying the financial and strategic value of Appian's solutions and developing a structured, repeatable methodology for economic impact assessment (ROI, TCO, mission metrics) collaborating with Appian’s Value Engineering Senior Director and leveraging Appian Value Lens tooling and methods.

  • To develop rigorous, region-specific business cases and economic models for Appian adoption, explicitly quantifying the financial returns (ROI, TCO) based on typical APJ operational cost structures and regulatory risk profiles.

  • To lead and participate in strategic sales presentations and follow-on education activities, providing architectural and commercial validation for high-value expansion deals.

  • To support our marketing strategy by participating in appropriate trade shows, providing insights for industry events, webinars, blogs, and our business application roadmap.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and MBA preferred

  • Minimum 15+ years of direct experience in a leadership role at a banking or capital markets with a complete understanding of the major business drivers in financial services, OR 10+ years of experience in Enterprise Architecture, Strategic Planning, or CTO Advisory within a major Financial Services institution (Tier 1 Bank) or a top-tier consulting firm.

  • Proven experience in leading Technology Modernisation and Simplification initiatives and managing Technology Portfolio & Lifecycle.

  • Hands-on experience driving change and new solutions, with an emphasis on improved customer experience, regulatory effectiveness, and operational efficiency.

  • Deep expertise in Governance, Commercial Management, and Financial Performance/Optimisation.

  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills with a track record of influencing C-suite stakeholders.

  • Direct work experience within the APJ region is required.

  • 30% travel is expected to clients across the APJ region.
