THE OPPORTUNITY

This lead role is designed for an elite systems expert who thrives at the intersection of enterprise architecture, AI innovation, and stringent security compliance. At Appian, you will have the autonomy to direct the design and management of multiple complex Google Workspace (GWS) tenants. Including environments built to strict CMMC and FedRAMP requirements. You will pioneer the rollout of cutting-edge GWS AI tools and engineer seamless integrations across our tech stack, all while working face-to-face in a culture that champions collaboration and rapid technical innovation at our corporate headquarters.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Multi-Tenant Architecture: Design, configure, and manage multiple complex Google Workspace tenants, ensuring continuous alignment with FedRAMP and CMMC compliance standards.
  • AI Integration & Management: Serve as the subject matter expert for GWS AI tools. Manage, support, and optimize our heavy leverage of embedded AI features (e.g., Gemini for Workspace) to drive workforce productivity and secure data handling.
  • Innovation & Feature Rollouts: Stay on the cutting edge of Google Workspace capabilities. Architect the testing, piloting, and organization-wide deployment strategies for the newest features and platform updates before they hit production.
  • Security Partnership: Work closely with Information Security and Network teams to implement robust zero-trust controls, data loss prevention (DLP) policies, and access management to mitigate risks across all GWS environments.
  • Seamless Integrations: Architect and maintain advanced integrations between GWS and other core enterprise platforms, ensuring a frictionless, high-performance experience for end-users.
  • Support & Management Plans: Develop and execute comprehensive platform management plans and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Serve as the Tier-3 escalation point for the most complex technical issues involving routing, policy conflicts, and advanced troubleshooting.
  • Scripting & Automation: Utilize GAM (Google Account Manager), Google Apps Script, and Python to automate routine administration, reporting, and complex workflow optimization

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree: Minimum of a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in desktop engineering or similar IT-related roles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple, highly complex GWS tenants, specifically dealing with environments subject to strict regulatory frameworks (e.g., CMMC, FedRAMP).
  • Hands-on expertise configuring GWS security center, complex mail routing, Google Vault, and enterprise identity integrations (e.g., SAML, SSO via Okta or Microsoft Entra ID).
  • Proven capability in managing, testing, and supporting enterprise AI tools within a modern productivity suite.
  • Working knowledge of scripting and API automation for GWS (e.g., GAM/GAMADV, Google Apps Script, Python).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications: Google Cloud Professional Workspace Administrator.
