We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. About the role
We are looking for an experienced Accountant for Billing and Revenue recognition with strong knowledge of government contracting practices, FAR Part 31 compliance, and experience with WAWF, DFAS, and various contract types including FFP, CPFF, and T&M. The ideal candidate will bring over four years of hands-on experience in defense/government contracting environments, cost accounting and a strong background in financial compliance, billing operations, and customer management.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Review prime and subcontractor contracts, set up contract structures in ProCas for compliant billings based on the contract types and requirements, manage accruals and adjustments for revenue recognition per ASC 606
- Prepare and submit customer invoices in compliance with FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific requirements (WAWF, IPP, etc.)
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of billing for government contracts including FFP, CPFF, and T&M
- Monitor and reconcile unbilled receivables and revenue
- Find de-obligation calculations and responses to DCMA
- Perform accounts receivable collections and issue resolutions
- Work with FAR Part 31 cost principles for billing and expense reporting
- Collaborate with Contracts, Program Managers, and Finance to ensure contractual billing requirements are met
- Utilize accounting systems such as ProCas and/or NetSuite for billing and AP activities
- Assist in contract closeout processes, audits support and maintain organized financial records
We're looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
- 4+ years of relevant experience in government contracting billing and accounts payable
- Strong knowledge of FAR Part 31 and various government contract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M)
- Hands-on experience with WAWF, DFAS, IPP, and government invoicing systems
- Experience with contract funding tracking per contract/DO/CLIN/ACRIN and color of money
- Proficiency in accounting software such as ProCas and NetSuite or similar
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Nice to have:
- Demonstrated ability to reduce A/R aging and improve collection cycles
- Prior experience with invoice audits and compliance reporting
Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
