About Us

Housing.cloud is a VC-backed, pre-seed startup set on becoming a global leader in educational technology. Our foray into edtech starts in student housing, an under-served part of the edtech ecosystem with an enormous total addressable market. We’re building a modern SaaS management platform that will help schools attract more students to live on-campus while simplifying complex, highly custom workflows. Many people meet their best adult friends as college roommates, but a lot of complicated work goes into making that magic happen!

Our founders are Geoff Bartakovics, founder and former CEO of the foodie media brand TastingTable.com, and Sasha Bratyshkin, a former engineer at Meta, IBM and Niche/Nextwork. Housing.Cloud already secured a $1M investment from Bienville Capital and has recruited a wide team of industry advisors who bring student housing expertise and industry perspective to our startup.

Most pressingly, we’re looking for a founding engineer to work closely with our founders to establish a technology platform on which we can build a competitor-crushing application. We need your help to create our culture, build our stack and define the way we work.

Responsibilities

You will…

- Build a full-stack SaaS web product from the ground up with responsiveness, integrability  and abstractability in mind;
- Work in React, Typescript and Firebase;
- Interact directly with advisors and customers to understand workflows and identify opportunities to solve pain points
- Participate in several rounds of user testing;
- Define both short-term (MVP) & long-term roadmaps;
- Help define the core engineering team, practices and company culture

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in computer science (or similar)
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Comfort with all parts of the stack (web frontend, backend, data analysis, CI/CD pipelines)
- Experience with large, complex codebases
- Experience shipping zero-to-one products
- Bonus: experience working in a remote-first company
