About Us

At Interfold, our mission is to bring greater access to capital through fast, modern user experiences.

In commercial lending today, the end customer experience is slow and painful. It takes 3-6 weeks to receive a loan and requires a lot of manual, back-and-forth interactions like emails. This also causes major problems for banks. The lending process is people intensive, slow, and inefficient. Often, the banks will turn away smaller businesses or raise interest rates for them — not because the customers lack credit worthiness — but to focus on larger accounts for efficiency reasons. This leads to social stratification where small businesses are disproportionately disadvantaged in the lending process.

By digitizing the  “people heavy” lending process into a series of financial algorithms, we can get to a world where credit decisions are made near-instantaneously and funding is awarded the same day or next day — instead of taking weeks. Our product automatically extracts data using OCR, analyzes the information, and performs credit decisioning all in real-time.

Our Tech Stack, 

• Main application is written in TypeScript using RedwoodJS on Render
• Front-end uses React and backend uses NodeJS
• Communication happens using graphQL with the Apollo Client 
• PostGres Database hosted on Render
• Prisma is our ORM
• OCR using AWS textract / Document AI
• Testing using Jest, React Component Testing using Storybook
• Also using AWS infrastructure components like S3, SQS, SNS etc

What You’ll Do

• Work closely with the founding team (CEO, CTO and founding engineers) to identify customer pain points, build and iterate on features to alleviate them.
• Solve challenges pertaining to architecture, scalability, performance, optimization and security.
• Build the best possible customer experience leveraging best in class modern web technology while also making sure that the application is of the highest quality.
• Lead by example and lay the foundations for technology, framework and processes.

Qualifications and Skills

• 4+ years of programming experience building production grade systems following best practices in any of the following languages - Java, C, C++, Go, Typescript.
• 4+ years of experience building production grade Single Page Apps using libraries like - React, Angular, Vue, Svelte.
• Experience building APIs using GraphQL / REST / gRPC
• Experience building applications in the cloud using providers such as AWS / GCP and ability to navigate/debug apps deployed on the cloud.
• Experience building SaaS applications following best practices around - testing, CI/CD, logging, monitoring etc 
• Bonus if you have the ability/ willingness to operate across the stack
• Bonus if you have previous experience building  financial services 
• Bonus if you have experience operating in a startup environment 
• Bonus if you like to commute to the office in NYC 3+days a week
