About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on VP of Finance to lead our financial operations and support the rapid growth of our SaaS security startup. This leader will be a trusted advisor to the executive team, manage our financial operations, and ensure the company’s financial strategy supports its goals and continued growth. This role oversees all aspects of finance: FP&A, Deal Desk, Operational Finance, Compensation and Talent Enablement, and Investor Relations, while building and managing a high-performing team to support our next stage of growth. Interested candidates can contact COO Neill Occhiogrosso at neill@appomni.com

We're looking for someone based in one of our hub cities and able to work hybrid.  Office locations: San Francisco, Denver, NYC and Lexington.

FP&A

  • Responsible for financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to guide decision-making, drive efficient growth, and inform and empower leaders.
  • Own the Operating Plan, including the company’s financial model and forecasting processes. Continuously refine these models in collaboration with all departments to ensure accuracy, transparency, and strong foundations for strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain and analyze SaaS metrics for timely reporting and performance insights.
  • Lead the preparation of quarterly Board materials and investor presentations.
  • Provide ad hoc financial insights and reporting to executive leadership to support business strategy and growth decisions.

Deal Desk & Revenue Enablement

  • Partner with Sales leadership, Revenue Operations, and Legal to lead the Deal Desk function, ensuring pricing, contract structuring, and approvals align with company financial goals and risk tolerance.
  • Conduct contract review in partnership with Legal; analyze financial impact of proposals and provide real-time guidance to accelerate deal closure in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment.
  • Assist Sales and Renewal teams in structuring custom pricing and quotes, while managing pre-sales processes such as NDAs, RFP responses, security reviews, and vendor setups for customer accounts.
  • Oversee customer portal setups and provide finance overviews of deal structures, including payment terms, termination clauses, taxes, and insurance requirements.

Operational Finance

  • Oversee treasury, cash flow management, and internal controls across multiple financial institutions.
  • Manage banking relationships, debt facilities, and capital structure to optimize financial flexibility and growth.
  • Oversee compliance and accounting operations, including vendor invoice approvals, T&E expenses, and reward card oversight.
  • Lead insurance management and compliance, maintaining appropriate coverage levels and broker coordination (Newfront).
  • Oversee procurement processes and vendor negotiations (including systems like ZipHQ) to ensure cost efficiency and financial compliance.
  • Provide general employee financial support and handle ad-hoc finance requests as needed.

Compensation and Talent Enablement

  • Collaborate closely with HR on headcount planning and compensation.
  • Design, implement, and review sales compensation and commission plans.
  • Partner with Legal and HR on equity program administration and employee equity education.
  • Support leadership in aligning compensation strategies with company growth and retention goals.

Investor Relations and Corporate Development

  • Prepare materials for quarterly investor reporting, capital planning, and due diligence.
  • Oversee cap table management, including new grant proposals, terminations, and annual 409A valuations.
  • At the appropriate time, play an active role in fundraising, building materials, participating in conversations, and closing opportunities.

Leadership & Growth

  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing Finance team across FP&A, Accounting, and Deal Desk.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial systems and tools to support a growing SaaS organization (ERP, CPQ, CLM, CRM, billing).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure scalable and efficient financial operations, governance, and strategic execution.

What We’re Looking For

  • 12+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including significant tenure in a SaaS or technology startup environment.
  • Deep expertise in financial planning, corporate finance, and compliance.
  • Proven track record managing banking relationships, debt, and capital markets.
  • Demonstrated success leading a Deal Desk function, including pricing strategy, contract review and structuring, and cross-functional collaboration under pressure.
  • Experience in investor relations, fundraising, Board communications, and cap table/equity management.
  • Hands-on experience with compensation plan design, commission review, vendor management, and procurement oversight.
  • Strong grasp of SaaS financial metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, Gross Margin) and revenue recognition standards (ASC 606).
  • Excellent analytical, strategic, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • A collaborative, hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and can balance strategic vision with operational rigor.
