Your Role as a Product Manager, Accessibility:
You will develop and lead accessibility strategy and execution across the Appspace platform. This is a hands-on technical role within Product Management that requires both deep accessibility expertise and the ability to work directly with our largest global customers.
You'll define our accessibility roadmap, make prioritization decisions, and work as a trusted advisor to customers for whom accessibility is mission-critical. This means you need to credibly explain WCAG requirements, respond to complex compliance questions, and sometimes push back on unrealistic demands – all while maintaining strong customer relationships.
You'll partner closely with design, engineering, product managers, and QA to integrate accessibility throughout our development process. You'll also work with Sales and Customer Success on customer engagements, RFP responses, and roadmap presentations.
A Day in the Life of a Product Manager, Accessibility:
Customer & Strategy
- Serve as the primary accessibility contact for our largest customers, handling executive-level conversations about compliance requirements, roadmap plans, and barrier remediation
- Develop and prioritize the accessibility roadmap in alignment with WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA and European Accessibility Act (EAA) requirements
- Partner with Sales to respond to accessibility requirements in RFPs and customer negotiations
Execution & Delivery
- Translate compliance requirements and customer needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams
- Triage accessibility issues reported by users and customers, prioritize remediation, and track progress
- Manage third-party accessibility audits and maintain accurate VPAT/ACR documentation
- Define and track metrics on accessibility performance (defect trends, audit findings, escalations)
Cross-functional Leadership
- Act as the subject matter expert on accessibility for product managers, designers, and engineers
- Work with design teams early in the process to ensure accessibility is built in from the start
- Lead workshops and provide training on WCAG guidelines and inclusive design principles
- Develop resources and workflows that make accessibility easier to integrate across the product lifecycle
What You'll Need:
Required:
- 5+ years guiding product, design, and engineering teams on implementing WCAG 2.1/2.2 standards
- Proven experience in customer-facing roles, including executive-level interactions about technical accessibility topics
- Track record managing accessibility in a SaaS or complex software environment
- Ability to balance compliance requirements with user experience and business needs
- Strong communication skills – you can explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Highly Desirable:
- IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, or CPWA)
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Familiarity with EN 301 549 and Section 508 standards
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field
