About The Role
We’re looking for a talented and hands-on Full Stack Team Lead to guide a group of engineers in building scalable, high-quality systems that power our mission to simplify taxes for everyone. You’ll combine strong technical expertise with people leadership to drive execution, mentor engineers, and ensure the delivery of robust, user-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of full stack engineers through design, development, testing, and deployment of high-impact projects.
  • Spend approximately 50% of your time coding, reviewing code, and contributing to system design, ensuring technical excellence and scalability.
  • Drive technical direction and ensure alignment with architectural best practices and company goals.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, UX, and other teams to deliver seamless, data-driven user experiences.
  • Provide hands-on contributions to both backend and frontend development.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop team members—promoting best practices in code quality, testing, and maintainability.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, observability, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews to help grow a strong engineering team.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on software engineering and 2+ years leading or managing a team - minimum 6+ years of experience in total.
  • Proven track record designing and delivering distributed systems or cloud-based applications (GCP or AWS).
  • Strong technical proficiency in backend development (e.g., microservices, event-driven systems, REST/gRPC APIs).
  • Solid experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular).
  • Skilled in system design and architecture, with the ability to balance scalability, performance, and developer experience.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, managing projects, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a bias toward action and ownership.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers in production systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and Kubernetes.
  • Experience working in startup or fast-paced environments with cross-functional teams.
