Marketing Lead – Shelby

Remote - (U.S.-based preferred)

Aptos is a people-first blockchain on a mission to help billions of people achieve universal and fair access to decentralized assets in a safe and scalable way.

Founded by some of the original creators and maintainers that researched, designed, and built the Diem blockchain to serve this purpose, we have dedicated several years toward this mission. We believe the open-source Diem technology we have developed is an important foundation of a safe and scalable web3 world where everyone has more equitable opportunities to grow and access financial assets with lower fees and fewer intermediaries.

Aptos (Ohlone for "The People") encompasses our mission and ethos for why we build.

About Shelby
Shelby is a decentralized storage network, purpose-built to deliver secure, high-performance, and developer-friendly data infrastructure on the Aptos blockchain. Designed for builders, Shelby uses on-chain smart contracts to coordinate and manage storage activity, ensuring full transparency and trustless integrity. The protocol introduces a system of "Chunks" and "Blobs" to efficiently handle a wide range of data—from cold archival files to hot, real-time application storage. By integrating seamlessly with the Aptos ecosystem and leveraging the Move programming language, Shelby enables developers to store, retrieve, and audit data with precision and speed. Whether powering DeFi protocols, gaming platforms, AI models, or analytics engines, Shelby is redefining what decentralized storage can do—bridging protocol-grade architecture with production-ready performance.

About the role:

We're looking for a versatile Marketing Lead (Shelby) with a blend of product marketing, content, growth, and community strategy experience. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, understands Web3 deeply, and can independently execute while laying the groundwork for a future marketing team.

You will be responsible for driving awareness, storytelling, and adoption across the Shelby platform’s early users—particularly creators, media platforms, and ecosystem builders.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own and develop the Shelby platform’s go-to-market messaging and brand positioning
  • Craft and execute multi-channel campaigns (organic, content, growth loops)
  • Translate complex product features into compelling narratives that connect with creators and Web3-native users
  • Manage and grow Shelby’s presence on key social platforms (X/Twitter, Farcaster, etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal teams, ecosystem partners, and agency vendors
  • Work closely with product and engineering to shape the user journey
  • Support Shelby’s early launches and activations with high-impact marketing strategies

What we’re looking for:

  • 5–8+ years in marketing, ideally in Web3 or adjacent industries (e.g., media tech, creator platforms)
  • Proven experience launching products and growing communities in a startup or early-stage environment
  • Background in product marketing, content marketing, or growth
  • Familiarity with the Web3 audience and its nuances—especially media/creator-facing use cases
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills
  • Comfortable operating independently and building from scratch
  • Bonus: experience working at a successful Web3 project with real adoption or ecosystem traction

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with creator communities, media platforms, or decentralized content tools
  • A track record of managing marketing ops and vendor relationships
  • Light technical fluency—able to understand and communicate how protocol-level tools impact end users

Location & Working Style

  • This role is remote, but U.S. time zones are preferred
  • You’ll collaborate directly with the Shelby founder, key Aptos leadership, and stakeholders across the ecosystem

Why Join Us

This is a rare chance to shape the marketing vision of a new project at the edge of blockchain, creator tech, and media innovation. As the first marketing hire for Shelby, you’ll have both strategic input and hands-on impact from day one—with the opportunity to grow into a leadership role as the team scales.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
