Aquia is seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to help lead the delivery of a critical identity services project at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a key member of our team, you will ensure project objectives are met on time and within scope while upholding the highest standards of security, compliance, and quality. This role requires U.S. citizenship, and candidates will be subject to a background investigation.
What You'll Do
- Manage end-to-end project delivery for a major identity services initiative, defining project scope, goals, and deliverables in alignment with stakeholder requirements.
- Lead and facilitate Agile ceremonies (Scrum, Kanban, or related frameworks), ensuring efficient sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, architects, and cybersecurity specialists to ensure technical requirements and security standards are fully incorporated into project plans.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and reports, effectively communicating progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Foster a collaborative environment, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, such as government partners, contractors, and leadership, to address project needs and maintain alignment with organizational objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement, implementing process enhancements and leveraging lessons learned to refine team practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal IT and cybersecurity guidelines, including relevant frameworks, regulations, and best practices.
- Identify, track, and manage project risks to ensure timely resolution of issues, escalating where necessary.
- Create and maintain project documentation, including project charters, status reports, and technical specifications.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in project management with an emphasis on delivering IT or cybersecurity solutions (federal experience strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe, with a track record of successfully managing cross-functional development teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead conversations and present complex information to engineers, executives, and government stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple workstreams, and adapt to shifting project requirements.
- Experience in federal IT or cybersecurity environments (e.g., VA, DoD, DHS), including familiarity with security and privacy frameworks (NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, etc.).
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, capable of guiding teams toward successful delivery of high-impact initiatives under tight timelines.
- Knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) principles or experience supporting identity services projects (preferred).
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP, CSM) is a plus, but not required.
