About the role

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Sales with deep expertise in peptide therapeutics. This leader thrives on driving high-level strategy and building scalable processes, while also nurturing customer relationships and closing major deals. This role reports to the CEO and will ideally be onsite with our incredible team in Berkeley, CA. However, for the right candidate we are open to hybrid or remote arrangements. Your success in the role will add a booster to our startup rocket, propelling huge impacts on human health and sustainable biotech.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Revenue Growth
    • Own high-value customer relationships to source and secure large commercial contracts.
    • Develop and execute a sales acquisition plan to build and maintain a robust sales pipeline.
    • Travel as needed for onsite customer visits, events, and networking opportunities.
    • Expand global sales by cultivating a network of champions, senior decision-makers, and industry leaders.
  • Strategic Sales Leadership
    • Collaborate with the CEO to define and implement sales strategies that drive substantial revenue growth.
    • Develop and track department goals and KPIs, leveraging data to drive targeted improvements.
    • Own and optimize sales systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Team Development and Management
    • Recruit, develop, and retain top sales talent while fostering a team culture consistent with company values and principles.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • Extensive experience sourcing, crafting, negotiating, and managing sales for key accounts, with a track record of success in the following areas: 
    • Peptide therapeutics, peptide CDMO, or amino acids for peptides.
    • Commercial-stage manufacturing contracts (6+ figures) for late-clinical and on-market drugs.
    • A diverse customer base, including large pharmaceutical customers.
  • Exemplary knowledge of pharmaceutical development processes, timelines, and needs of customers and stakeholders at different stages.
  • Ability to own and optimize sales systems, set data-driven goals, and drive growth through metrics and analysis.
  • A history of building strong, long-term relationships with diverse stakeholders:
    • Internally must contribute positively in a highly-collaborative environment by understanding the company, team, and culture.
    • Externally must represent the company with credibility and integrity, building and sustaining strong trust-based sales relationships.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills for engaging with internal teams, customers, and other stakeholders through emails, presentations, proposals, or investor materials.

Compensation 

Aralez Bio’s base salary range for this position is $175,000-$250,000 per year, with on-target earnings potential of $250,000-$350,000. There is a wide base salary range because we're open to finding the right candidate ranging in title from Associate Director to VP. The level at which you are hired is commensurate with experience and will determine the appropriate salary range. In addition to salary, your total rewards package will include equity and benefits.
