We are seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer (Gasification) to take ownership of the development, testing, and
optimization of our novel biomass gasification systems, solids feed and removal systems, and
feedstock pretreatment systems to enable reliable, high efficiency conversion as we scale from
demonstration to pilot and beyond. As a core member of a small, hands-on gasification team, you’ll

Responsibilities
- Execute design, procurement, assembly, testing and operation of high-pressure solids feed and removal hardware.
- Contribute to 3D modeling, structural analysis, fabrication drawings and PFD’s / fluid P&ID’s as well as test plans and procedures.
- Find robust, cost-effective solutions to solve Arbor’s electro-mechanical, thermal, and fluid system design problems.
- Manage large assembly BOMs and work across departments to deliver project results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in combustion system design, analysis, and testing.
- Experience with electro-mechanical and/or chemical conversion systems.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
- Hands-on experience with high-temperature and pressure equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to own product lifecycle from conceptual design to validation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with biomass or solids conveyance and feeding systems.
- Knowledge of chemical kinetics and fuel property effects on combustion behavior.
- Programming or scripting skills for data reduction and automation (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
- Experience working in startup or experimental R&D environments.
Salary
$150K - $175K a year, subject to applicant’s skills, qualifications, and experience
