What we’re looking for

We are seeking a resourceful and versatile Software Engineer to join the team to help bring our visions to life. The ideal candidate is a low-ego team player who approaches engineering problems and potential solutions with a unique, holistic, and long-term perspective, and is genuinely excited to build the software expanding renewable energy access to millions of households across the country. We're looking for an inquisitive problem-solver who possesses both grit and flexibility in the face of a rapidly changing regulatory landscape -- our work often involves implementing unconventional solutions and requires someone who’s not afraid to explore new domains when previous methods fail, sort through minute details, or find non-engineering ways around a problem. This person must be comfortable with iterating towards a solution and collaborating closely with colleagues in Product, Design, Marketing, and Analytics along the way.

This role is based out of Chennai, India with a hybrid approach and is an exceptional opportunity for someone who relishes the chance to engage with cutting-edge technology, influence how our team builds and stays relevant, and work in a fast-paced environment with engineers on a high-morale, tightly knit team. Our engineering values are deeply ingrained in our culture-- you can read more about them here.

  • Evaluate product performance operational metrics, as well as diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Implement best practices and processes
  • Design and develop robust, scalable front end & back-end systems
  • Build and maintain complex data pipelines to parse and standardize large amounts of data that enable our unique energy products
  • Frequently deploy new functionality to production with a streamlined CI/CD pipeline
  • Explore new technologies with an open-minded team
  • Identify opportunities for improving the products or services
  • Increase test coverage and reliability and help troubleshoot production issues
  • Collaborate frequently with other engineers, give thoughtful code review, and mentor junior engineers
  • Notice and speak up about opportunities to improve both the member and developer experience

What will help you succeed:

  • The following list reflects our current technology stack-- you’ll need to have some overlapping or analogous experience, but not necessarily an exact match.
  • Over all 3 - 6 yrs of IT experience developing scalable applications with hands on experience in backend and front end technologies, development frameworks and third party libraries.
  • Ability to run multiple technical projects
  • Should be able to conceptualize and design applications using different frameworks
  • Able to interact with stakeholders and translate business requirements to technical solutions
  • Articulate enough to explain the business problem in technical terms to the teams across the organization
  • Strong technical skills in Core Java, Spring Core, Spring Boot, AJAX, REST, JPA (Hibernate), Angular/React and Bootstrap
  • Ability to work in agile delivery model with a proven CI/CD process
  • Ensure best practices in coding and quality standards for delivery
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms
  • Being a good team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Taking full ownership of converting requirements into design, code, unit test, deployment and delivery of functionality as per agreed timelines
  • Experience on AWS (or other cloud) and exposure to containerization technologies
  • Know-how of troubleshooting/debugging application and code to resolve any issues in the platform
  • Being able to review other engineers work output and provide constructive feedback for the betterment of the solutions
  • Self-starter and should be willing to plunge to the bottom of a business problem to resolve
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good academic qualification preferred
  • Good to have exposure to AI/ML technologies

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on market standards
  • We are working on a hybrid model with remote first policy

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
