Product Manager
A Bit About Us
About the role
Arcadia is looking for a Product Lead to help drive the launch of our first publicly available software products. They will help take cutting edge biological research tools and turn them into publicly available tools and models. They will be involved end-to-end in the product lifecycle, beginning with initial market research and roadmapping and eventually supporting positioning, launch, and growth.
The right person has taken products from zero to one in fast-moving environments, brings strong product instincts alongside a builder's sense of story and growth, and is energized by working directly with scientists and engineers to understand their needs firsthand. They are comfortable operating in ambiguity and separating signal from noise. They can distill complex, messy domains and understand where the true value proposition lies.
Fundamentally, this role is about taking highly specialized experimental tools and understanding how they can be generalized to serve a wider audience, without compromising on what makes them effective in the first place.
As a research org, we understand that not every tool is optimal for every task. An important part of this role will be to help our customers and partners understand where our models excel and, just as importantly, where they don’t.
A familiarity with biology and the current AI landscape is not necessary as a prerequisite but will ultimately be essential for success on the job.
This is an onsite role at our Emeryville headquarters, where daily proximity to researchers, engineers, and cross-functional partners keeps the feedback loop tight and the work grounded in real scientific need.
What you'll work on
- Market research to understand where our research tools fit into the broader landscape
- Collaborate with leadership to develop the product roadmap and prioritization for Arcadia’s first public releases
- Work hand in hand with our software team to help build a roadmap define release cycles
- Define scope for each subsequent release in close partnership with leadership, so every launch is tightly scoped, well-benchmarked, and cleanly handed off
- Manage positioning, messaging, and branding for our products: naming, launch narratives, and website and comms that make technical work and utility legible and to researchers outside Arcadia
- Partner with leadership to develop and pressure-test potential business models — pricing, access tiers, packaging, etc and how we go to market
- Be the voice of the user inside a research org, translating scientific capability into clear product value
What we're looking for
You'll be well-suited for this role if you have:
- A track record of taking products from zero to one in fast-moving environments, with something you shipped and grew that people actually depend on
- Strong product management fundamentals: roadmapping, prioritization, scoping, and running release cycles alongside engineers
- A builder's sense of positioning and story - you can name a thing, write the launch narrative, and make technical work legible to a non-expert
- Comfort working directly with scientists and engineers, and the curiosity to learn the science well enough to represent it honestly
- A bias toward rigor over hype
Nice to have:
- Experience with scientific, technical, or developer-facing products
- Background in life sciences, biotech, or lab tools
- Familiarity with the machine learning techniques and the AI product landscape
- Experience standing up a new commercial motion — pricing, packaging, and go-to-market for a first product
- A track record of building and shaping brand and design for a young product
Compensation and location
Successful applicants can expect to be compensated between $170,000–$200,000 with benefits and a competitive equity offering, depending on experience level. The position will require the individual to be on-site at our Emeryville, California headquarters.
Application Process
Please submit a resume and fully answer all application questions addressing your interest in and qualifications for the position. The review process will involve in-person interviews and a short, practical work test. Employment offers are contingent on reference and background checks.
Arcadia is an equal opportunity workplace; we welcome people from all backgrounds and communities. We provide competitive compensation and practical benefits to keep you happy and healthy so that you can do your best work.
