Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who’s fired up by our mission and ready to build. You’ll thrive here if you adapt quickly, take ownership, and care about the details. 

This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters. You’ll report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and work closely with a lean, high-trust team where everyone’s work matters.

What You'll Do

• Owning major boat systems from specification through design, prototyping, validation, and high-volume manufacturing, including assembly structure, mass, cost, and schedule
• Designing and releasing hardware across the full boat, including:
  • Composite structures: hull, deck, stringer, hatches, and hardtop, with Class A surfacing for visible parts
  • Interiors & mechanisms: upholstery, tower, windshield, storage
  • Marine systems: ballast, bilge, steering, cooling, and surf tabs
• Defining system requirements and leading design reviews, making tradeoffs across performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability
• Leading prototyping through on-water testing, root-causing failures, and driving fixes into production
• Integrating with battery, powertrain, electrical, and controls teams on packaging and interfaces
• Partnering with industrial design, suppliers, and manufacturing on DFM and next-generation products
• Mentoring engineers and setting the technical bar for the team
• Comfortable working hands-on in production or traveling to suppliers when needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field
• 5+ years of industry experience, including taking hardware from concept through production
• Expert in CAD (NX preferred, CATIA, or SolidWorks) with strong command of PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred)
• Experience working with composite structures
• Strong engineering fundamentals with hands-on use of hand calcs and FEA to validate designs
• Proven design for manufacturing experience releasing parts to suppliers
• Hands-on experience in fabrication, assembly, and testing
• Ability to lead technical decisions and defend them with data
• Clear written and verbal communication, with strong prioritization at a fast but sustainable pace

Bonus Qualifications

• Marine, automotive, aerospace, or EV hardware experience (marine preferred)
• Fiberglass part infusion or open molding experience
• Tooling design experience
• Soft goods experience
• Have worked alongside industrial design teams with Class A surfaces
• Familiarity with ABYC standards
• Engineering leadership or mentorship experience 
• Enthusiasm for boating and the water

What we offer

The base salary for this role is P3: $150,000 P4:$185,000
