Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Developer Experience
Company Overview
Arcesium is a global financial technology firm that solves complex data-driven challenges faced by some of the world’s most sophisticated financial institutions. We constantly innovate our platform and capabilities to meet tomorrow’s challenges, anticipate the risks our clients encounter, and design advanced solutions to help our clients achieve transformational business outcomes.
Financial technology is a high-growth industry as change and innovation continue to disrupt the status-quo and prompt major transformation. Arcesium is at a particularly interesting time in our own growth as we look to leverage our successfully established market position and expand operations in pursuit of strategic new business opportunities. We value intellectual curiosity, proactive ownership, and collaboration with colleagues, and we empower you to meaningfully contribute from day one and accelerate your professional development.
Position Summary
Arcesium seeks an accomplished Lead Engineer to join the Developer Experience (DevEx) team, part of our Infrastructure organization. You’ll be an engineer improving the experience of other software engineers — your users are the developers building Arcesium’s products. You have a low tolerance for friction in the development loop. Slow CI pipelines, flaky tests, observability that leaves you guessing, deploy processes that make people hold their breath — these are the things that nag at you, and you channel that into building practical solutions that measurably improve developer velocity and satisfaction.
DevEx’s mandate is to maximize developer productivity and efficacy by providing best-in-class SDLC and Observability services, and by building systems that strategically apply GenAI to every stage of software development and operations. As a Lead Engineer on the DevEx team, you will own one or more subsystems or services across areas, delivering high-quality products both individually and collaboratively.
In this role you will lead by example through your strong engineering skills, supported by the quality of the software you build, the insightful code reviews you provide to others, and the technical solutions you originate and implement. You must demonstrate high agency: combining systems thinking, a bias to action, and the willingness to challenge assumptions to assess and address the needs, challenges, and concerns of engineering teams at Arcesium.
Responsibilities
- Design and build bleeding-edge systems for incorporating GenAI into software development and operations. This includes evaluating, building, integrating, and operating coding agents; building the infrastructure to make these agents effective and safe in our environment; and pioneering new ways to apply AI to the entire development lifecycle — all the way from idea prototyping to code generation and review, to testing, to deployment, to operational diagnostics
- Engineer and maintain the SDLC toolchain, including our source control platform and related CI/CD infrastructure, processes, and integrations, ensuring reliability and developer productivity
- Build and improve capabilities for feature flagging, progressive delivery, automated rollouts and rollback, and self-contained, on-demand test environments so that engineers can develop, test, and ship changes safely and with confidence
- Advance the Observability stack — encompassing metrics, logs, traces, and events — to help engineers solve operational problems efficiently
- Drive process improvements and evangelize engineering best practices; define and track metrics for developer productivity and satisfaction to ensure we are prioritizing work that has the most impact
- Act as a member of the broader Infrastructure organization at Arcesium, which provides the foundation upon which our customer-facing Platform runs
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, developer tooling, SDLC, or observability. However, we are interested more in what you’ve done, can do, and can grow to do, rather than the number of years you’ve been working.
- A proven track record of ownership of critical developer-facing systems and delivery of features that measurably improve developer productivity. You have owned and operated systems such as CI/CD infrastructure, source control platforms, observability tooling, or developer automation.
- Polyglot programming capability, with advanced ability in at least one language. We expect engineers within Infrastructure to be proficient and prolific software engineers. Languages in our ecosystem include Python, Java, Go, and Bash.
- Experience with AI/LLM-based developer tools (coding agents, AI-assisted code review, retrieval-augmented generation), AI-ecosystem infrastructure, and self-hosted models is highly valued.
- Ability to balance delivery with correctness, delivering timely solutions that are properly risk-managed for the needs of the business
- An inquisitive mind, strong collaboration and communication skills, with deep care for making your fellow engineers more productive
Not all strong candidates will meet every single qualification as listed. We encourage you to apply if you are interested in this work, even if your experience doesn’t precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out, especially if your background is unconventional.
The expected annual base salary for this position is $215,000 - $265,000. Our compensation package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, and 401k contribution matching.
The applicable annual base salary paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience and educational background.
