Senior EMC Engineer (EU2026)

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What you’ll do:
- Perform Simulation / Modeling of HV, LV, and communication EMC emissions and susceptibility
- Perform design for survivability under ESD and lightning strike
- Determine EMC filter designs and critical component specifications
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, power, controls, and PCB engineers to meet EMC goals
- Work closely with vendors to realize EMC filter hardware
- Manage Y-capacitor budget allocations to optimize filter designs and to meet EMC emission targets as well as vehicle level SWaP-C goals
- Generate EMC test procedures, equipment list, setup EMC lab, and perform / document EMC test results
- Create and manage budgets for leakage resistance, Y-capacitance, and X-capacitance
- Lead module / subsystem / vehicle integration troubleshooting efforts
What you need:
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with 11 years or MS Degree with 9+ years or PhD with 7+ years of experience in related fields
- Sound knowledge and hands-on experience in HV, LV, and communication bus architecture covering safety and functional requirements
- Familiarity with battery, power electronics, charging, and typical exposures anticipated for aerospace systems
- Experience in performing modeling of EMC systems in circuit simulation tools (spice, Matlab/Simulink, etc.)
- Familiarity with power electronic controls methods typically employed for efficiency and EMC
- Master of all types of lab instruments: oscilloscope, network analyzers, HV power supplies, antennae, BCI, LISN, etc.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications:
- Hands on experience with automotive and aerospace HV, LV, and communication bus systems
- Experience with DO-160 qualification testing
- Passion for aviation and eVTOLs
