Buyer - Aircraft on Ground
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

The AOG (Aircraft on Ground) Buyer plays a critical role in the aviation industry, particularly in maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) environments. Their main responsibility is to quickly procure parts and services needed to return grounded aircraft to service, minimizing downtime and operational disruption.
What you’ll do:
- Source and purchase critical aircraft components and parts needed for AOG situations.
- Work with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers), distributors, and brokers to secure parts ASAP.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure priority service.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms, often under tight time constraints.
- Coordinate expedited shipping and delivery (including AOG courier services, same-day, next-flight-out, etc.).
- Ensure all parts come with proper documentation (e.g., FAA 8130-3, EASA Form 1).
- Maintain accurate purchase records for audits and traceability.
- Collaborate closely with maintenance teams, engineers, planners, and operations to understand needs and timelines.
- Provide real-time updates to stakeholders on procurement status and ETAs.
- Update procurement and inventory systems (SAP, TRAX Aero) with order status, tracking, and part numbers.
- Make purchasing decisions that balance speed, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Support managing that rework process, working alongside the repair team.
- Responsible for the management and accuracy of his/her Open Purchase Orders, and the proactive identification and mitigation of risks and delays.
- Resolve discrepancies found in goods receipts and invoice receipts.
- Participate in the Procurement SOPs creation.
- Support the development and management of department KPI metrics.
- Travel may be required but on an infrequent basis.
What You Need:
- 5+ years experience in Purchasing or related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Finance.
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment and keep up with the constant changes on Engineering designs.
- Detail-oriented, Results Driven, Effective Communication, and a Team Player.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience in Aerospace and/or Automotive industry a plus
- APICS certification

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $82,560 - $103,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
