Mechanical Design Engineer, Integration, Electric Propulsion

Job summary:
We are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to join our team focused on developing Archer’s electric propulsion system. This role requires a blend of mechanical engineering expertise and a strong understanding of mass manufacturing processes. The job level is flexible and based on skill, knowledge and experience, Senior through Senior Staff.
What you’ll do:
- Work with the component designers, quality and manufacturing engineers to optimize the electric propulsion system’s assembly process.
- Configure and manage top level assembly BOMs in CAD and Teamcenter
- Collaborate with other mechanical, systems, electrical, safety and manufacturing engineers to ensure that our assembly processes will produce hardware that meets specifications
- Develop 2D assembly drawings that define the quality of processes used to build our hardware
- Work cross functionally with quality and manufacturing to ensure that your instructions are being implemented correctly on the assembly line
- Assist in root causing quality and manufacturing problems on the build floor
- Lead engineering prototype builds
- Own mass budget and drive mass saving initiatives
What you need:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of relevant Mechanical Design experience.
- Strong mechanical design analytical skill in structural analysis, fluids, thermals, heat transfer, materials, fastener design, etc.
- Strong 3D design experience and skill, preferably with NX and/or SolidWorks.
- Basic understanding of electrical design fundamentals.
- Experience with GD&T, design for reliability, and design for manufacturing..
- Experience with product life management systems, including BOMs and engineering change orders.
- Experience with high volume manufacturing processes such as injection molding, stamping, soldering, welding, diecast, automated assembly processes, PCB fabrication, etc.
- Strong documentation, communication and project management skills.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience designing components and assemblies for aerospace or automotive requirements
- Passion for aviation and eVTOLs
- Experience designing components for electronic assemblies like power supplies, converters, drive inverters, chargers, etc.
- Experience designing components for electronic drive assemblies like gears, bearings, cast housings, motors, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to design and launch products from a blank sheet to full scale production.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
