Staff Electronic Component Engineer
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:
- Evaluate and approve electronic and electromechanical components for use in new designs.
- Maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and component database (PLM, ERP systems).
- Work closely with engineering and procurement teams to ensure component availability and cost optimization.
- Identify and qualify alternate parts to mitigate supply risks or obsolescence issues.
- Monitor component lifecycle status (Active, EOL) and ensure timely action on at-risk parts.
- Validate component specifications and performance parameters against manufacturer datasheets.
- Ensure all components conform to industry standards (IPC, JEDEC, AECQ, etc.) and internal design guidelines.
- Conduct component audits to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance requirements.
- Provide input during design reviews regarding component selection, reliability, and performance.
- Support component derating analysis and reliability assessments.
- Manage component revision control and change notifications.
- Understanding of BOM management and electronic manufacturing processes.
- Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, and failure analysis related to electronic components.
What you need:
- 7+ years of experience in component engineering and electronic component management.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) and component databases.
- Hands-on experience with industry standards (IPC, JEDEC, AECQ) and electronic component specifications.
- Understanding of BOM management and electronic manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience in regulatory compliance (RoHS, REACH, UL).
- Experience with integration of component data into ECAD tools (Altium) and PLM systems.
- Knowledge of reliability testing, FMEA, and derating analysis for electronic components.
- Prior experience working in a high-reliability industry (aerospace, medical, automotive, etc.).
- Passion for aviation and eVTOLs.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $163,200.00 - $204,000.00. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
