Sr. Electrical Technician

San Jose, California, United States

Headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, Archer is a leader in the next-gen aerospace sector building an end-to-end advanced air mobility platform that delivers air taxis, unmanned aircraft systems (“UAS”), aviation-related physical artificial intelligence (“AI”) solutions, and other technologies to customers worldwide across the commercial aerospace and defense sectors.

Our sights are set high and our problems are hard, and we believe that diversity in the workplace is what makes us smarter, drives better insights, and will ultimately lift us all to success. We are dedicated to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces our differences, and supports and celebrates all of our team members.

About the Role:

Are you an experienced Avionics or Aerospace Electrical Technician who thrives on hands-on prototyping and building critical systems from the ground up?

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Technician to join our team in Archer's Integrated Test Labs. In this role, you will work an early day shift schedule with regular opportunities for overtime. You’ll focus on building, wiring, and validating advanced subsystem integration test labs rather than traditional flight-line aircraft maintenance. Working closely with test and software engineers, you will execute complex wire harness fabrication, perform detailed lab modifications, inspect peer work, and mentor junior technicians in a fast-paced R&D environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build & Integrate: Construct and modify state-of-the-art aircraft subsystem test labs and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test benches.
  • Harness Fabrication: Read complex schematics and wiring diagrams to build, route, terminate, and ring-out custom aerospace-grade wiring harnesses from raw materials using precision hand tools, crimpers, and pin extractors.
  • Troubleshoot & Repair: Rapidly diagnose and resolve electrical integration issues across complex subsystem components in a controlled lab setting.
  • Quality Assurance & Leadership: Perform meticulous peer inspections on technician modifications to ensure strict adherence to design specifications and aerospace standards.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide hands-on guidance and technical leadership to junior technicians.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate lab modification logs, wiring updates, and maintenance records.

What You Need:

  • 5+ Years Experience: Proven track record as an Electrical/Avionics Technician in aviation, aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing.
  • Schematic Mastery: Demonstrated ability to interpret complex electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and standard electrical symbols.
  • Precision Harness Fabrication: Deep hands-on experience cutting, splicing, pinning, crimping, and testing custom wiring harnesses to aerospace standards.
  • Diagnostic Expertise: Solid background in troubleshooting aircraft/prototype subsystem operations, electrical interfaces, and telemetry/sensor lines.
  • High Standards & Quality Focus: Exceptional attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, and pride in clean, reliable technical execution.
  • Shift Alignment: Ability to work an early day shift and overtime as required

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Active A&P License or Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Experience maintaining, modifying, or retrofitting certified aircraft (FAA Part 145 repair station or OEM environment).
  • Familiarity with High-Voltage (HV) electrical systems, power distribution, or electric propulsion testing.
  • Background supporting FAA Type Certification or conformal test setups.
