Medical Assistant - Part-Time

Hours: Part-Time, Contract, 20-hours/weekly; Monday & Friday (flexible - see below)

The Role:
We are seeking a part-time Medical Assistant (MA) to work alongside our Nurse Practitioner at an onsite, employer-based clinic inside one of our warehouses/factories. Primary responsibilities include: administering pre-employment urinalysis/drug screenings, daily operations, and first-aid as needed. The ideal candidate will be proactive, compassionate, and eager to help. Hours are flexible with several day-time shifts to choose from. The position is part-time with possible advancement/full-time options in the future.
Shifts:
- Nurse Practitioner is flexible and the MA can choose to start/end: 5AM/6AM/7AM/8AM, 9AM
- The warehouse/factory has 3 shifts for their employees - 24 hours/7 days a week; Management/HR are usually in from 8:30 - 5:00PM; there are the most employees in the office - first shift (7:00AM - 3:30PM)
- Seeking an MA to come in fo 20-hours, weekly, Monday and Friday - either two 8-hour shifts + one 4-hour shift (as needed); or two 10-hour shifts Monday/Friday (w/ 1-hour or 30-minute lunch)
In This Role You Will:
- Administer urine drug screenings ( pre employment drug screens).
- Provide first aid care as needed.
- Work alongside the NP - rooming/collecting vitals, administering drug screens, providing first aid care as needed, assisting NP during examinations and testing, completing blood draws and collaborating with the NP in preparing patients for their examinations.
- Patient scheduling, patient check-in, confirming appropriate documentation has been taken and filed, vital sign measurements, and other as needed.
- Administer medication as appropriate, check out the patient after scheduling a follow-up appointment as necessary, provide the patient with education and other resources, as well as any materials required (results, OTC medication to take home, etc.), keep and aid the NP in charting notes, and otherwise as needed.
- Documentation of the encounter and forward the documentation to the provider for completion, signature, and billing where not completed.
- Assisting with post-visit duties, including but not limited to obtaining and relaying results, case management, referrals, etc.
- Welcoming patients, answering telephone calls, responding to inquiries, scheduling appointments, and taking inventory and ensuring the clinic is fully stocked.
- Working to establish relationships with factory employees, promoting trust and a compassionate healthcare environment.
- Discretion and commitment to confidentiality and careful communication.
- State and Federal Compliance and performing all other duties as assigned under the provider’s direct or standing order and within the scope of the Medical Assistant’s active certifications, licenses, and education, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory standards and Archive policies.
MA Requirements:
- 2+ years of patient care experience, preferably as a Medical Assistant.
- BLS/CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience
- Certified Medical Assistant; If you are not certified, you must be willing to obtain certification within 1 year of your hire date
- Bilingual in English and Spanish - Fluent in Spanish is a PLUS = many employees are Spanish-speaking at the warehouse.
