A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a Project Consultant, you’ll work closely with a Project Manager and Project Director to execute project requirements, support project delivery, and build lasting client relationships. Your responsibilities will vary based on the scope and needs of each project, but may include:
- Analyzing operational data and evaluating current processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Gathering observational data and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
- Developing and evaluating process flows, material flow paths, operational strategies, and alternative solutions.
- Creating and modifying complex AutoCAD drawings, including material handling equipment, process flows, site plans, general construction, tenant improvements, and automation.
- Supporting material handling equipment selection and developing CAD-based layouts.
- Applying lean, 5S, and other process improvement methodologies based on project needs.
- Developing business cases and recommendations to support operational changes.
- Working directly with clients to understand their goals, communicate recommendations, and build trust throughout the project.
- Collaborating with project teams, vendors, and support staff to keep projects moving forward.
- Traveling to client and project locations approximately 60–80% of the time, often for extended periods.
- Thinking creatively and adapting quickly as project requirements, data, and client needs evolve.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
- 1–5 years of experience in operations, manufacturing, distribution, material handling, logistics, or a related environment.
- Experience with operations improvement, slotting, material flow, material handling selection, and CAD-based layouts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop practical recommendations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and the ability to develop and interpret detailed layouts and drawings.
- Understanding of basic process flows, lean principles, 5S, and operational improvement concepts.
- Ability to evaluate operational performance, identify process gaps, develop alternative strategies, and support recommendations for change.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Confident and professional presence when working with clients, project teams, vendors, and internal partners.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and execute project tasks with limited supervision.
- Creative, adaptable, and comfortable learning new skills in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel 60–80% based on project needs and location.
- Previous external consulting experience is a plus, but not required.
- Advanced degrees and professional certifications are welcomed.
