Ardent is seeking an Operations Engineer to work in the Washington DC area
The Operations Engineer will play a key part in maintaining and improving our infrastructure, ensuring reliable system operations, and driving automation initiatives. If you have a strong background in Linux/Unix administration, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices—and want to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment—this opportunity is for you.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, monitor, and maintain Linux/Unix-based systems across development, testing, and production environments
- Implement and manage infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Automate deployment and configuration processes using scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell) and infrastructure as code tools
- Support and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure optimal performance and availability
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to drive DevOps and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices
- Maintain networking infrastructure including DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, and load balancers
- Monitor system performance, logs, and alerts; respond to incidents in a timely manner
- Participate in change management processes following ITIL best practices
- Ensure systems are secure and compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards
- Create and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in operations, system administration, or DevOps
- Experience with Linux/Unix system administration
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure as code
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)
- Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Working knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancing)
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with ITIL practices and change management
- Familiarity with security best practices and monitoring tools
- Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, government, finance)
- Certifications such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Azure Administrator, or Linux+
