The Position

Key Responsibilities
The Associate, Data Engineer will be responsible for on-going performance optimization for a fleet of standalone PV, BESS and PV+BESS assets by designing and maintaining modern data architectures to transform vast amounts of data into actionable intelligence. The role will be part of the Performance Engineering team. At a high level, this person will be responsible for:
- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics workflows using Snowflake or Databricks.
- Process and integrate large, diverse datasets from performance data platforms, CMMS platform, and drone inspection imagery and reports into our central data platform for further analytics.
- Analyze asset performance and maintenance data to identify equipment underperformance, quantify energy losses, and build predictive models that forecast maintenance needs.
- Manage the end-to-end data lifecycle, from ingestion and storage in cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon S3) to processing, analysis, and visualization.
- Continuously evaluate software systems, processes, procedures and drive improvement within the performance and operational engineering teams to support Arevon’s growth.
- Create and maintain metadata documentation and ensure best practices for data governance and discoverability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, combined with 3-4 years of professional experience in a data-focused role.
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms (Databricks or Snowflake) and cloud environments (AWS - e.g., S3, EC2, Glue, SageMaker). Experience with Apache Spark for distributed computing is highly preferred.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and strong programming skills in Python, including data science libraries like Pandas and NumPy.
- Expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and mathematical modeling.
- Demonstrated experience in processing and analyzing aerial or geospatial imagery using libraries such as OpenCV or Scikit-image, GeoPandas and machine learning / deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensorflow.
- Proven track record of working well within a team environment, taking ownership of processes and procedures.
- Understanding business strategy and the ability to align data insights with organizational goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
