The Position

Arevon is recruiting for the position of Senior Associate, SCADA & Operations, an outstanding opportunity for individuals seeking an exciting, high-growth work environment in renewable energy, one of the most important industries for the 21st century.  

The Senior Associate will work with the SCADA and Operations team and is responsible for assisting with and/or handling SCADA and Operations related coordination activities on multiple projects. Such activities include supporting the SCADA design and implementation processes and coordinating with vendors to ensure the deliverables meet Arevon’s requirements. You will assist in leading community and client relationships throughout the SCADA procurement, design, implementation, and testing process and will work together with our internal teams at every stage of development to help successfully get our projects to the finish line.

The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in renewable energy, education in a related field, with previous coursework or experience dealing with utility scale solar and energy storage assets. They have a solid track record of exemplary teamwork and enjoy working on a dynamic and diverse team. Strengths include organizing, planning, and meeting deadlines for large multi-faceted projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain exhibits for standardizing SCADA and control requirements for PV and BESS projects.
  • Perform technical due diligence towards upcoming technologies in energy storage and plant control systems.
  • Provide timely, accurate and quality communications with internal and external customers, as well as detailed written communication logs.
  • Assist in management of requirements from energy regulatory organizations (CAISO, FERC, NERC etc.).
  • Assist in managing site acceptance testing for projects.
  • Assist in managing the deliverables related to SCADA and plant communications outlined within the project interconnection agreements, CAISO New Resource Implementation Process, etc.
  • Be able to demonstrate understanding of high voltage electrical system operations.
  • Monitor real-time operations of solar and battery energy storage plants to ensure assets are meeting contractual and regulatory obligations and are maintained to provide maximum availability.
  • Communicate with on-site personnel to evaluate alarms and irregularities, to plan and take corrective action while understanding impact on operational metrics.
  • Collaborate with SCADA vendors and associated parties for projects towards SCADA design, implementation, and testing.
  • Assist in the development of turn-key EPC technical documents and support enforcement of the contract for the project duration.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering.
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred; exceptional entry-level candidates will be considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of medium and high voltage electrical systems as relate to utility scale solar plants and battery energy storage systems.
  • Experience in dealing with control systems and communication infrastructures related to automation.
  • Prior understanding of operation of hybrid generating assets (i.e., PV + BESS).
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex technical explanations.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to work with others under all situations.
  • Work within a project team, as well as analyzing, troubleshooting and prioritizing problems independently.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Understand safety principles, to safely work on equipment.
