Veterinary Dermatologist - Associate Position
Sandy Springs, Georgia, United States
Veterinary Dermatologist
Associate Opportunity | Arista Advanced Pet Care Atlanta
Every veterinary job ad promises collaboration. At Arista Atlanta, we can tell you what that actually looks like.
It looks like veterinarian owners on the floor, practicing medicine, supporting their team and community, and always looking for a way to say yes.
Yes, transfer me the case that belongs on my service. Yes, let’s talk it through and share what we know. Yes, I’ll come in when the patient and my team need me. Yes, the client can manage three-quarters of the estimate, so we will work with what they have and find the best path forward.
It turns out “Yes We Can” means more when the people who own the hospital say it too and stand behind you when you do.
Meet the owners and the hospital director
Our surgeon may be the clearest example of what “say yes” looks like. An excellent surgeon who works hard and looks for a way forward for every patient and client. When she is not operating or rescuing dogs, she races cars, apparently surgery doesn't provide quite enough adrenaline for her diet.
We have two internists who carry enormous caseloads and remain remarkably supportive. This is not a “two new consults and one transfer” kind of team. They take the cases that belong with internal medicine, work closely with ER, and care more about getting patients to the right service than protecting their schedules. We are fairly certain neither of them knows the meaning of the word lazy.
One a devoted mom and CrossFitter who brings enough energy for several people. She shares her home with Chicken and Rice, 2 kitties, and an amazing dog whose favorite toy is a pillow printed with her face. We don't ask questions.
The other is the father of three terrific kids and a longtime house-officer favorite who has won multiple teaching awards. We do not have house officers yet, but our ER doctors already benefit from his support, patience, and willingness to talk through cases.
Our ER doctor owner practices at an exceptionally high level and has a gift for bringing order to chaos. She is fair, kind, and a devoted mom to a new human who arrived right around the hospital opening and an older Boxer who has been with her through it all.
Our oncologist is beloved by his clients and has the best Georgia accent anyone has ever heard. He is the father of twin girls and approaches Christmas decorating with the same commitment he brings to oncology. Trust us, we have had the tour. It is magnificent.
Our Hospital Director is a VTS in Critical Care with more than 15 years of multispecialty hospital leadership. She brings the medical knowledge, operational experience, and people skills needed to balance a team of big personalities. She knows how a great hospital should run and how people should feel while working in it. That combination is rarer than it should be, and it matters.
They are skilled, hardworking, funny, and generous with one another. They take their medicine seriously without taking themselves seriously every minute of the day.
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for a Dermatologist who wants to join a hospital where collaboration is something people actually do, not simply a word printed in the job advertisement.
You may be a good fit if you:
- Are generous with technicians and fellow doctors
- Believe cases should go where they will receive the best care
- Want to teach and learn simply because contributing is the right thing to do
- Look for a way to say yes, even when it would be easier to say no
- Want to help build the culture, not sit on the sidelines and critique it
- Have a sense of humor, because veterinary medicine is hard and we need to have some fun together while doing it
What working here looks like
You will practice in a modern emergency and multispecialty hospital where consultation happens in real time and complicated cases do not have to be managed alone.
Our Care Navigation team guides clients through the referral experience. Scribble provides ambient dictation, allowing you to spend less time typing and more time practicing medicine. Instinct serves as our EMR and PIMS, bringing patient care, communication, and workflow together in a system our teams genuinely enjoy using.
Production is paid monthly, and our production dashboard lets you track your numbers daily. There are no mysterious calculations happening somewhere behind the curtain.
You will be supported and heard. Good ideas are welcome here. Even better, they have a reasonable chance of being implemented.
Finding your Atlanta
Atlanta is technically one city, but it often feels more like dozens of small communities connected by trees, restaurants, and plenty to explore.
If you want historic homes, walkability, the Belt Line, Krog Street Market, and the ability to turn an ordinary Saturday into an accidental food tour, look at Inman Park.
If you want a true downtown square, independent restaurants and shops, public art, live music, and a neighborhood where you can accomplish quite a lot without getting back into your car, Decatur offers small-town personality just outside the city.
If you want more space without surrendering restaurants, galleries, patios, and a genuinely charming main street, Roswell has historic Canton Street and the kind of neighborhood center people picture when they insist Atlanta has no walkable areas.
If newer homes, parks, trails, highly regarded schools, and a polished suburban lifestyle are higher on your list, Alpharetta offers extensive dining, recreation, and access to the Big Creek Greenway.
Atlanta also brings major-league sports, outstanding restaurants, live music, theater, mild winters, and one of the world’s busiest airports, making it easy to get almost anywhere.
The secret to Atlanta is finding the pocket that feels like yours. You can choose city energy, a walkable community, more space, or a family-friendly suburb without giving up great food and plenty to do.
The practical stuff
- Four weeks of paid time off
- $5,000 annual continuing education allowance
- 401(k) with a 4% match
- Paid parental leave
- Pet insurance
- Production paid monthly
- No negative accrual
- No non-compete for associates
Arista was built around a simple belief: there need to be veterinarians who own hospitals again.
Owners who are in the building, understand the profession, and can make thoughtful decisions about how they care for patients, support their teams, and serve their communities.
We are not building a perfect hospital filled with people who never disagree. That hospital does not exist, despite what several job advertisements may have told you.
We are building something real with talented people who care, work hard, say yes, and want to make veterinary medicine feel worth choosing again.
If that sounds more interesting than another “fast-paced practice with a family feel,” we should talk.
