Job Description:

We are looking for a self-driven Senior Technical Artist to come onboard and help us develop state of the art captcha challenges. You will be working in the team conceptualizing and developing captcha challenges by using Blender in combination with Python to generate images at scale. These challenge images are then AB tested on live audiences, and also tested against in-house machine learning tools to determine their strength against automation. These challenges are used across a wide range of popular services, and your work will help protect many of the services you know and love on the internet.

You will be expected to innovate with new puzzle ideas, follow through to produce the puzzle at scale with suitable amounts of image variation, and then validate metrics for puzzle solvability on real humans, and how difficult the puzzle is to solve using automation techniques.

We place a large emphasis on automating menial tasks, and encourage tool development to help both yourself and the team to increase productivity. This is a great role for any Technical Artists with experience and interest in tool development.

Given the unique use case this job entails, and the ever growing landscape of machine learning & cyber security, an ideal candidate for this role is forward thinking, creative, and always looking for the next best thing to help us stay ahead of attackers.

While experience with machine learning is not expected, it would be a massive help both from the intuitions about how machine learning works, and helping us to develop better techniques.

Must have:

  • 5+ years experience with 3d software (at least +2 of which should be Blender)
  • 2+ years in a similar role as a Technical Artist
  • Proven competency working with Python (a coding portfolio is highly regarded)
  • Lateral thinking and problem solving
  • Asset management experience (eg, perforce, plastic SCM, github)
  • Drive to create internal tooling/automation to improve processes
  • A quality driven mindset

Nice to have:

  • Degree or experience in Games Design, 3D Animation, or equivalent
  • Game concept prototyping/POCs
  • 3D modelling and sculpting (Zbrush/blender)
  • Experience with scripting inside of Blender
  • Javascript experience
  • Html + CSS
  • Data interpretation and validation
  • User experience testing
  • Experience with machine learning / vision
  • Illustration skills
  • Experience with Jira
  • Familiarity with AWS (s3, dynamodb)
  • Experience communicating with customers

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
