Primary Focus

Cloud Platform Cost Optimization: Lead comprehensive cost optimization of AWS and Azure cloud services, infrastructure, and technology spend for all Arkose Labs products and services while maintaining operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Analysis & Optimization

  • Cost optimization of AWS and Azure cloud services, infrastructure, and technology spend whilst maintaining operational efficiency
  • Analysis of AWS and Azure billing data, usage data from asset inventory and monitoring utilization data to assess application teams' cloud consumption, identify wasteful spend, and provide actionable insights to optimize spend
  • Financial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in spending and financial performance across all Arkose Labs products
  • Conduct deep-dive investigation of cost overruns and optimization opportunities through data-driven analysis
  • Develop and maintain cost optimization strategies, roadmaps, and forecasting models

Technical Leadership & Automation

  • Subject Matter Expert for the design of optimization tactics and creation of Infrastructure as Code implementation guidance and script templates
  • Automation of optimization analysis with serverless products on AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge) and Azure (Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid) to repeat analysis, data collection, recommendation generation, and track benefit implementation to reduce manual workload
  • Create and maintain cost attribution models to specific cost centers and automated reporting dashboards
  • Implement cloud cost governance frameworks and best practices

Stakeholder Engagement & Implementation

  • Engage with Engineering & Cloud Platform teams to drive optimization implementation
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand infrastructure requirements and provide technical recommendations for cost-effective architecture improvements
  • Collaborate on right-sizing initiatives for compute, storage, and networking resources
  • Create, document, and communicate financial analysis and cost optimization recommendations for AWS and Azure cloud services
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Establish KPIs and metrics to track cost optimization progress and benefit realization
  • Develop cost optimization playbooks, documentation, and training materials
  • Implement approval workflows for cloud resource provisioning and scaling policies
  • Conduct knowledge sharing sessions with engineering teams

Required Qualifications

Technical Experience

  • Infrastructure & Cloud technology industry experience (6+ Years)
  • Proficient in AWS and Azure infrastructure and services with hands-on experience in cost management tools (AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management)
  • Proficient in Python, AWS/Azure CLI, Terraform, and GitHub workflows (4+ Years)
  • Proficient in data analysis tools e.g., Excel, SQL (4+ Years)
  • Experience with serverless technologies and automation on AWS and Azure platforms
  • Experience with cloud architecture patterns, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, identify patterns, and draw actionable insights
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis and forecasting techniques
  • Ability to translate complex technical data into business insights

Engineering & Cost Optimization

  • Experience in Engineering, Cost Optimization, and reducing Cloud spend
  • Knowledge of Engineering practices and cost optimization methodologies
  • Track record of delivering measurable cost savings in cloud environments

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science) or similar degree in Computer Science.
  • Cloud certifications (AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals, Kubernetes) preferred

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Director of Engineering, Pune and collaborate closely with SVP of Engineering as well as other engineering leaders globally.
