About the Role

We're hiring a Data Center Systems Engineer to design and deploy modular data center solutions. You'll develop scalable rack architectures, integrate power and cooling systems, and support customer deployments from planning through execution. This remote role (U.S.-based) requires strong technical expertise and collaboration with cross-functional and client-facing teams.

Location. This role is remote in the continental United States.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

System Architecture & Design

  • Architect deployment end-to-end modular data center solutions, including containerized, skid-based, or pre-fabricated modules
  • Develop scalable and efficient rack designs optimized for compute, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Integrate power distribution, thermal management, cabling, and space utilization into high-performance rack solutions.

Engineering & Deployment

  • Capable of reading engineering documents including 3D CAD models, rack elevations, BOMs, airflow diagrams, and wiring schematics.
  • Capable of creating high level Visio style drawings (prepping for customer readiness).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, network, and facility engineers.
  • Perform physical customer siting and deployment evaluations and build customer deployment plan.
  • Process manage to ensure customer is ready for deployment (customer readiness).
  • Support deployment teams during site delivery, integration, commissioning, and validation testing.

 Vendor & Technology Evaluation

  • Assess and select vendors for rack hardware, cooling systems, PDUs, cabling, and modular enclosures.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies in modular infrastructure, edge computing, liquid cooling, and DC power distribution.

Process & Standards Development

  • Define design and deployment standards for modular systems and rack-level integrations.
  • Drive automation and repeatability across deployments by leveraging DCIM tools, CAD templates, and configuration management platforms.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with sales, business development, and client teams to tailor solutions based on customer needs and site-specific constraints.
  • Present technical concepts and architectural strategies to stakeholders and decision-makers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data center infrastructure, modular deployments, or rack integration design.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), Visio, and 3D modeling.
  • Familiarity with power and cooling standards (e.g., ASHRAE TC 9.9, Uptime Institute, TIA-942).
  • Strong understanding of IT hardware (servers, switches, storage) and data center cabling best practices.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to data center or partner sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a highly technical discipline.
  • Experience with hyperscale or edge data center design and rapid deployment methods.
  • Knowledge of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) for airflow and thermal modeling.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices and energy-efficient designs (e.g., PUE optimization).
  • Certifications: CDCP, DCDC, RCDD, or equivalent.

Compensation

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the on-target earnings salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.

In addition to the salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).

$148,000 - $222,000 USD
