Senior Manager / Head of SEO, AEO & GEO

Role Mandate (Why this role exists)

Search is no longer just “Google rankings.”

This role owns how our brand is discovered, trusted, and referenced across:

  • Traditional search engines (SEO)
  • Answer engines & AI search (AEO: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, etc.)
  • Generative results & citations (GEO)
  • High-intent content → conversion paths

Key Responsibilities

1. Search Strategy in a Post-Keyword World

  • Define and execute SEO + AEO + GEO strategy aligned to enterprise buyer journeys
  • Shift focus from keyword rankings to:
    • Topic authority
    • Entity coverage
    • Brand mentions & citations in AI answers
  • Identify priority buyer questions, jobs-to-be-done, and use-case clusters

2. Content Strategy & Authority Building

  • Partner with Product Marketing, Demand Gen, and SMEs to:
    • Build pillar content, use-case hubs, comparison pages, and POV assets
    • Translate complex SaaS value into search-discoverable narratives
  • Guide content teams on:
    • Information architecture
    • Schema & structured data
    • E-E-A-T signals (experience, expertise, authority, trust)
  • Ensure content works for:
    • Humans
    • Crawlers
    • LLMs

3. AEO / GEO (Answer Engine & Generative Optimization)

  • Optimize content for:
    • Featured snippets
    • Direct answers
    • AI citations and references
  • Track and improve:
    • Brand visibility in LLM responses
    • Prompt-based discovery
  • Experiment with:
    • FAQ structuring
    • Knowledge graph alignment
    • Author pages, expert attribution, and source credibility

4. Technical SEO & Web Conversion Excellence

  • Own technical SEO fundamentals:
    • Crawlability, indexing, site speed, Core Web Vitals
    • JS frameworks, rendering, international SEO
  • Work closely with Web & Engineering teams on:
    • Conversion-oriented landing pages
    • Forms, gating strategy, and attribution
    • SEO-safe experiments and A/B tests
  • Balance SEO scale with enterprise-grade web governance
  • Own VWO as a tool

5. Backlinking, Partnerships 

  • Build and scale high-quality backlink & authority programs:
    • Analyst firms
    • Ecosystem partners
    • Developer, security, or SaaS communities
    • Technical references
  • Build earned authority, not “link building”:
  • Research reports
  • Data studies
  • OSS or community contributions
  • Analyst and peer citations

6. Measurement, Insights & Influence

Measure success beyond traffic:

  • Pipeline influence
  • Assisted conversions
  • Account-level impact

Understand multi-touch attribution well enough to:

  • Defend organic investment
  • Align with RevOps and Sales

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Experience

  • 7–10+ years in SEO / organic growth
  • 3+ years in Cybersecurity, DevSecOps, Cloud, Infra, or deeply technical B2B SaaS
  • Proven ability to scale organic growth without compromising brand or UX
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Technical SEO
    • Content strategy
    • Link / authority building
  • Comfort with understanding technical content

Strong Advantage If You Have

  • Experience optimizing for:
    • AI search / LLM discovery
    • Zero-click search environments
  • Familiarity with:
    • Schema.org, knowledge graphs, entity SEO
    • HubSpot / Marketo / Salesforce attribution
  • Experience working with:
    • PMM
    • Demand Gen
    • Product & Engineering teams

Tools & Stack (Must Have)

  • Google Search Console, GA4
  • Ahrefs / Semrush
  • Screaming Frog / Sitebulb
  • CMS (Webflow / WordPress / headless CMS)
  • LLM monitoring tools (Perplexity, ChatGPT testing, emerging GEO tools)
