We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced LTL (Less Than Truckload) Outside Sales Executive to join our sales team. The LTL Outside Sales Executive will play a critical role in driving revenue growth by actively pursuing new business opportunities in the field, meeting face-to-face with prospects and customers within an assigned territory, fostering strong in-person customer relationships, and effectively selling our LTL transportation services. The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of the logistics industry, particularly in the LTL segment, and demonstrate a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets through direct, on-site customer engagement.

**This is an outside sales position based in the field, requiring regular in-person travel throughout an assigned territory to meet with prospective and existing customers. Candidates should reside within, or be willing to relocate to, their assigned territory.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and generate new leads within the LTL market segment through in-person visits, cold calls, and local networking events, targeting potential customers across various industries
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to promote Armstrong Transport Group's LTL services and secure new business opportunities
  • Travel throughout an assigned territory to build and maintain strong, face-to-face relationships with customers, understanding their transportation needs, and providing tailored solutions that align with their requirements
  • Conduct in-person sales presentations and product demonstrations at prospective clients' places of business, effectively communicating the value proposition and unique advantages of Armstrong Transport Group's LTL services
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, customer service, and pricing, to ensure seamless onboarding and ongoing customer satisfaction
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of the competition
  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals, contracts, and pricing agreements in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline and consistently meet or exceed assigned sales targets and revenue goals
  • Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to sales management, highlighting key performance indicators and progress against sales objectives
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge and stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices
  • Travel extensively within an assigned geographic territory to conduct on-site customer visits, tour facilities, and represent Armstrong Transport Group in person at industry events

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (preferred)
  • Proven track record of at least 3-5 years in sales, with a focus on LTL transportation services and solutions
  • Strong understanding of the logistics industry, particularly in the LTL segment, including knowledge of pricing structures, carrier networks, and industry trends
  • Demonstrated success in generating new business and expanding customer relationships
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-making at all levels of an organization
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented, with a relentless drive for results and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions
  • Comfortable working independently in the field, managing a territory-based schedule with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and other sales tools to manage leads, opportunities, and sales activities
  • Willingness to travel extensively within an assigned territory for face-to-face client meetings and industry events, with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
