Manager, AI & Data Consulting

135 W 26th Street, New York, NY 10001; Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Artefact is a next-generation data and AI consulting firm dedicated to accelerating the adoption of data and AI to create measurable business impact across the full enterprise value chain.

We sit at the intersection of consulting, data science, AI technologies, data engineering, and digital transformation. We do not just advise — we build, implement, and deliver results our clients can measure. Our teams bring together consultants, data scientists, data engineers, AI engineers, analysts, and digital experts to solve complex business challenges with pragmatic, production-ready solutions.

As we continue to grow in the US, we are building a team of entrepreneurial data and AI talent who can help clients move beyond experimentation and into scalable, governed, value-generating AI adoption.

The Role

Artefact is looking for an AI & Data Consulting Manager: someone who runs projects autonomously, develops the people on them, grows the client relationship — and builds with AI along the way.
Managers at Artefact are AI-literate builders. You use AI tools every day to produce your own work faster and better, and when a recommendation needs proof, you can prototype it: open Claude Code or Gemini CLI and turn an idea into something the client can click on. We need someone who is not afraid of the terminal — someone who, with the help and guidance of AI, will build the thing rather than just describe it.

What You'll Do

  • Manage projects end to end: structure sub-streams, distribute work fairly, set team OKRs, and give sponsors clear visibility.
  • Build robust plans that anticipate deadlines, delays, and risks — and communicate them before they become surprises.
  • Structure mission deliverables: write C-level executive summaries autonomously and build presentation storylines with partner support.
  • Hold Artefact's quality bar on everything that leaves the team.
  • Your recommendations are grounded in hands-on understanding of the AI stack.
  • Define client needs through interviews with client teams and technology partners, and translate them into strategic data and AI recommendations.
  • Prototype with AI tools — agentic coding tools like Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or Codex — to test feasibility and make ideas tangible in workshops and steering committees.
  • Understand context engineering well enough to shape how clients connect AI to their data, documents, and systems (RAG, semantic layers, MCP).
  • Maintain specialization in at least one AI platform ecosystem — Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude), or OpenAI — and keep it current.
  • Make the people under your influence progress.
  • Give precise, actionable feedback on analyses, decks, and client behavior.
  • Set SMART objectives, run proper evaluations, and keep the team engaged.
  • Coach consultants on AI-native ways of working: which tools, when, and how to verify what they produce.
  • Mentor juniors and seniors toward autonomy.
  • You will maximize client satisfaction and help expand the relationship.
  • Build the client development strategy with the partner; detect needs and shape farming proposals.
  • Maximize client NPS through delivery quality and relationship care.
  • Pitch Artefact: contribute to new business proposals and content development (research, articles, business cases).

What We're Looking For

  • 5–7 years of full-time, client-facing work experience in consulting, technology, media, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing projects and small teams autonomously in a client environment.
  • Demonstrated AI literacy as a builder: daily use of AI tools for real work, and hands-on experience prototyping with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex, or similar).
  • Comfort in the terminal and with modern AI workflows, with the judgment to verify what AI produces.
  • Working knowledge of at least one AI platform ecosystem — Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude), or OpenAI — and of core GenAI concepts (RAG, agents, context engineering).
  • Excellent communication skills: C-level-ready writing and presence, structured storytelling, and precise feedback.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and a conviction that decisions should be made with facts and data.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in business, technology, or another field related to our work.

Preferred Experience

  • Strategy consulting and/or digital marketing background.
  • SQL or Python skills for hands-on analysis.
  • Experience contributing to proposals and business development.
  • Intercultural experience across global teams.

Why you should join us

We are united by our values and strengthened by our hybrid expertise.

  • There is always a way: We're from the breed of does, of diggers, of makers. Because ideas are valuable only if executed.
  • Client trust is won on the field: Addressing client needs flows better hands on at their side.
  • If not used, it is useless: Our love for technology translates into a steep desire for adoption, true brilliance is about impact.
  • If not shared, our work is not done: Sharing knowledge is the best way to button up a mission, benefitting clients and colleagues.
  • We learn everyday: Tech is a land where everything move at the speed of light, you better be ready to challenge yourself.

How We Support Our People

In addition to our values-driven culture, we offer a range of benefits and programs designed to support our employees' growth and well-being, including:

  • Learning and Development: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of AI, data, and consulting experts who are committed to continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: We offer a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and paid parental leave.
  • Time to Recharge: We believe sustainable performance matters. That's why we offer unlimited paid time off, giving you the flexibility to take the time you need.
  • Growth Opportunities: As a rapidly growing organization, you'll have the opportunity to expand your skills, take on new challenges, and help shape the future of the company.

The estimated base compensation for this role is $140,000 - $160,000 (NYC location). Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, this role is eligible for competitive benefits.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
