Enterprise Account Executive

Columbus, Ohio, United States, San Francisco, California, United States

What we do

Ascend is transforming the $10T global insurance industry by combining AI automation with embedded fintech. While insurance makes up 7.2% of global GDP, outdated financial infrastructure—PDFs, emails, and manual reconciliation—slows the industry down. Ascend is the first and market-leading finance automation platform built specifically for insurance, driving its rapid digital transformation.

In just three years, we’ve:

  • Trusted by 1000s of insurance businesses nationwide
  • Processed billions in transactions annually, growing 200%+ per year.
  • Built a world-class team of 50+ people in our San Francisco and Columbus offices.

How we do it

Ascend automates the entire insurance financial lifecycle—from collections and accounting to reconciliations and disbursements—helping businesses streamline operations and increase profitability.

In the AI era, software alone is no longer enough. For decades, software costs have declined, and with AI, they are now in free fall. As both software buyers and builders, we fully embrace this shift—it makes technology more powerful and accessible. However, businesses must also maximize monetization, and the future belongs to those that embed themselves into financial flows rather than simply selling SaaS.

That’s why AI + fintech is our edge—seamlessly integrating financial automation into transactions to create real, lasting value. Customers don’t just buy software; they unlock powerful financial efficiencies with a 5-7x ROI.

Why we do it

Insurance is a $10T+ industry running on legacy systems. AI alone won’t fix it, but AI-powered automation embedded into payments and transactions will.

Ascend’s mission is to become the leading financial automation platform for insurance by 2030—powering the entire industry’s financial operations while transforming the way trillions of dollars move.

Your Role

As an Enterprise Account Executive at Ascend you will be at the forefront of scaling our enterprise sales function by engaging with senior leadership and key stakeholders across large insurance agencies and broker networks. This is a foundational role: we are still early in defining our enterprise motion, and you will help build it. You’ll be responsible not only for landing strategic, high-impact deals but also for bringing enterprise sales excellence into the org—leading by example, coaching your teammates, and helping operationalize enterprise best practices across the company. Success in this role hinges on your ability to sell into sophisticated organizations, navigate longer sales cycles with multiple stakeholders, and bring strategic discipline to every phase of the pipeline.

We are hiring for this position in either San Francisco, CA or Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities will include

Objective #1: In your first 30 days, onboard and set the foundation for enterprise success

  • Build a deep understanding of how Ascend’s products serve agencies by engaging cross-functionally with leadership, product, engineering, and customer success teams
  • Develop a comprehensive view of our current go-to-market efforts, identifying areas of strength and opportunity within our sales org and playbook
  • Shadow and lead internal demos and enterprise discovery calls to benchmark and model best practices
  • Partner with the Head of Revenue to establish your onboarding plan—including enterprise pipeline development strategy, sales ops tooling improvements, and enablement opportunities

Objective #2: In your first 60 days, execute on deals and formalize repeatable enterprise processes

  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of larger agency prospects by applying a strategic, account-based approach to outreach and engagement
  • Own the full-cycle enterprise sales process—from prospecting to stakeholder alignment, procurement navigation, and contract negotiation
  • Formalize internal resources and templates to support a repeatable enterprise sales motion (e.g., objection handling, multi-threading guides, value selling collateral)
  • Coach team members by modeling enterprise discipline and sharing frameworks for stakeholder mapping, deal qualification, and executive communication

Objective #3: In your first 90 days, accelerate cross-functional collaboration and scale the motion

  • Partner with Customer Success and Implementation to ensure a white-glove transition for your initial clients, setting a high bar for strategic engagement post-sale
  • Collaborate with Marketing to build co-branded content, case studies, and vertical-specific materials that enable deeper enterprise penetration
  • Serve as a strategic voice to Product and Leadership—bringing back structured feedback on deal blockers, competitive dynamics, and feature priorities
  • Drive the internal maturation of our sales culture by contributing to the development of KPIs, sales process documentation, and coaching rhythms

You might be a good fit if you are / have

  • Enterprise Sales Experience: Demonstrated success selling to larger organizations with complex decision processes. Experience in the insurance or financial services ecosystem is a plus.
  • Leadership by Example: A player-coach mindset—you thrive in execution, but also elevate those around you through guidance and systems thinking.
  • Process-Oriented: You bring clarity to ambiguity. You’ve helped build scalable sales processes and can document, teach, and evolve them.
  • Adaptable and Hands-On: You're scrappy, resourceful, and energized by early-stage challenges. You’re comfortable with limited support infrastructure and confident building as you go.
  • Coachability and Initiative: You seek feedback, want to improve, and also push the organization forward when you spot gaps or inefficiencies.

Compensation: $250,000 - $300,000 OTE (Uncapped)

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and meaningful equity in a fast-growing company

  • 100% health premiums covered for you and your dependents

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
